Loving every moment of this adventure called life with my greatest love and soulmate, my husband of 33 years @brett_kahle. Dog dad to Koby.

POSTS STORIES REELS

When we started our journey together more than 33 years ago, we dismissed the idea that couples like us would ever be free to live openly, much less be able to marry. For 20 years we shared our lives mostly in the shadows—happily together and married in our hearts.

But 13 years ago today, along the shore of Lake Champlain in Vermont, we stood side by side, hand in hand, tears in our eyes as we heard the words, “I now proclaim you… husbands.” I didn’t expect to feel any different than I had the previous 20 years, but hearing those words and seeing our names together on a marriage license overwhelmed me.

History seldom preserves the names of mere “roommates,” “best friends,” or even “partners.” But knowing that long after we are gone, a permanent record of our love will remain—even if filed away in a courthouse in a state where we never lived— and it fills me with immense pride.

Our journey continues, and I am so grateful to call you my husband in both the shadows and the light. I love you so very much. Happy anniversary, my love! ❤️ by @bobgkahle

Thank you, Wendy @wendyinterianoo for the beautiful and sweet gift and for including our pup who we miss so much! It brings a smile to our faces and it looks wonderful in our den/gameroom! We cherish your friendship! by @bobgkahle

Had a wonderful evening at Ridge Rooftop Lounge with our beautiful friend Wendy, where we enjoyed delicious food and drinks and visited with Jason and Spencer behind the bar and the always wonderful food and beverage manager, Jonathan, before heading downstairs to the speakeasy, Magnum, where we enjoyed drinks made by our friend, Francisco. Just a wonderful evening all around! by @bobgkahle

Almost through the new cocktail menu at Callisto. Enjoyed our evening hanging out with our framily. by @bobgkahle

Checked out the speakeasy, Magnum, at the Hotel Vin tonight and enjoyed seeing Spencer @spencerrmccoy at the bar. After a nice drink we headed up to Ridge Rooftop Lounge for some delicious food, awesome espresso martinis and beautiful views. Jason, Ivan, and food and beverage manager, Jonathan, took great care of us. by @bobgkahle

You were our funny, quirky, manipulative, wonderful, beautiful little bundle of joy. You will forever linger in every corner of our home, my heart, and my soul. Your love was free and unconditional and I treasure every moment we shared as a family. Rest well my little man. Papa loves you. 💔 by @bobgkahle

Enjoying a relaxing Sunday evening at Ridge Rooftop @ridgerooftopnwa, watching football, chatting with Francisco and Ivan behind the bar, and enjoying some awesome drinks and delicious food. The BYO Bao buns and the lamb and beef meatballs were so good! We continue being impressed with the service and atmosphere atop the newly opened Hotel Vin! Hope to catch you next time Spencer @spencerrmccoy. Enjoy your vacation! by @bobgkahle

Making our way through the new cocktail menu… 5 more down. Great seeing Denver and Diego and the Sunday night crew. by @bobgkahle

Checked out Ridge Rooftop Lounge on top of the new Hotel Vin in uptown Rogers. Spencer and Jason served up great drinks. The food was delicious and the views are spectacular. There’s also a speakeasy and a restaurant that we will have to try soon. by @bobgkahle

With fall (slowly) approaching, Brett and I were craving the apple cider donuts from Mercier Orchards in north Georgia. Since it was too hot to enjoy the outdoors we stayed inside and spent the day baking and cooking (and watching football). While I don’t think we are capable of duplicating the donuts from Mercier, we did manage a very delicious apple cider sour cream Bundt cake from scratch, even making our own cider since we couldn’t find any in the store yet. We skipped the cinnamon sugar glaze since we are both trying to cut back. 😂 Koby Kahle even managed to get some home cooking (but not the cake). by @bobgkahle

Happy heavenly birthday, Mama. There are many things I miss about you, but you left your love with me, which was always the biggest and best part of you. Your light still shines and I am, as always, so proud to be your son. I love you! Half the family is there with you now so celebrate big time! ❤️ by @bobgkahle
