I have the best coworkers.

Shout-out to the breeze that Marilyn-Monroed Jen's hippie poncho at the perfect time and our beloved maintenance man Don, who was just walking down the sidewalk, minding his own business, when we recruited him to take our pictures.

Also, when my jack o'lanterns start to melt I give them little voices. The pumpkin in the second picture sounds like a mix of Jennifer Coolidge and Jimmy Stewart, and iykyk. by @bonnieengstrom

Remember when I jumped on the Netflix documentary trend? Well, we weren't filming a documentary, but we were filming with the @augustine_studios ... and it was AWESOME.
Jordan, Jacob, Austin, Solenne, and Molly spent 2 days at our house, interviewing me and Travis about the miracle and filming lots of b-roll. The @augustine_institute has created a new Confirmation program called Witness and our witness is included in the section on signs and wonders. I'm so excited about this project - the little I've seen looks engaging and smart! But I'm also excited because of the time I was able to spend with Molly, Solenne, and the whole team as they described the project to us. Their heart is for the Lord and their heart is in this project.

Also, I just have to say that working with these five people was, hands down, the best experience we have ever had with a film crew. We have been interviewed by lots of wonderful reporters and documentary crews over the years, some were a one-man show with a mic on a camera and some were a whole team with lots of equipment. All of them have been professional and kind, but Jordan, Jacob, Austin, Solenne, and Molly shall henceforth be the measure by which we measure. They were just so human in a "the glory of God is man fully alive" kind of way! They played games with our kids. They were interested and encouraging when my daughter talked about her art. They told stories and asked questions. They were kind and patient and funny and warm. We liked them so much that we invited them to stay for dinner the next night. And I guess I just want you to know that there are really good people who really love Jesus and His Church, and even though they are doing cool things, the most compelling thing about them is how they radiate Light.
I hope and pray that the Light of Christ's Sacred Heart shines through me and you and all of us. by @bonnieengstrom

The thing that Travis and I were always most excited about for the beatification was celebrating it with our loved ones. We were able to see so many friends and family at the actual event, and then many of them came to our home afterwards to celebrate. It was beautiful.

Here's some behind the scenes type snapshots, things you only would have seen if you lived locally, or were part of our inner circle. These are glimpses of some of the special moments that help define September for me.
- I was invited to lecture at the Mass when Bld. Sheen's tomb was consecrated as an altar. It was an absolute honor, and my little Catholic nerd heart was in awe throughout the Mass.
- My personal backstage chauffeur and bodyguards (one of whom is my husband 🥰).
- Sharing the story of James' miracle at a parish talk, the day after the Beatification.
- Before the Beatification @wood_and_mercy_co brought me the icon his wife and @emmanuel_studio wrote for my family. More to come about this amazing image.
- All 12 of us out for dinner the night before the Beatification.
- Pre-signing books at the OSV Booth the night before.
- James practicing.
- Meeting amazing people at Fr. Chase's Holy Hour.
- Stephen praying for his vocation, at the Holy Hour on the anniversary of Bld. Sheen's ordination.
- The t-shirt my friend and co-worker threatened to sell to our whole parish. Can you imagine 400 people showing up to the Beatification wearing my face?! 🤣 by @bonnieengstrom

A week ago Friday we attended the first ever Sheen Awards, where we met Jonathan Roumie, Paul Kim, and a few other cool kids, and came home with Fulton Sheen. The show airs tonight on EWTN! by @bonnieengstrom

One week ago my family was honored to be part of the Beatification of Archbishop Fulton Sheen. There were so many highlights, and I had so much fun! We were surrounded by loved ones and met amazing people. I got to do a press conference and a book signing, and I was interviewed live on EWTN! I met my favorite apologists, shared a suite with two of my dearest friends, and my husband was always at my side. My kids were healthy and we got 'there and back again' safely.

The whole event - the 45-minute procession, the beautiful art and music, all the languages, and all of the people - it felt like a glimpse into heaven, where we will worship God together.

A lot has been made out of my sons carrying Blessed Sheen's relic and our family's procession to the altar. But I want you to know: we were all carrying it. That procession was the culmination of more than 16 years of people carrying my family in prayer, love, and sacrifice and YOU were part of that procession. You were walking with us, you were helping us carry that load. I have never felt like this was a miracle that happened to us, but that it was a miracle that happened for ALL of us. We are just an ordinary family, but our God is extraordinary. by @bonnieengstrom

After his beatification in St. Louis, Blessed Fulton Sheen is one step closer to sainthood.

16-year-old James Fulton Engstrom’s miraculous healing as an infant was the verified miracle required for Blessed Sheen’s beatification. At the Sept. 24 Mass, the Engstrom family presented a reliquary containing Blessed Sheen’s relic.

Prior to the beatification, Bonnie Engstrom noted being excited to find out what Blessed Sheen is made the patron saint of.

“I think Midwesterners should have our own patron saint,” Bonnie said.
