POSTS STORIES REELS

🤍💛 HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY to Lisa Hall; their book THE DREAM FAMILY is out TODAY!

We’re the dream family.
Just ask my hundred thousand followers.

A dream cottage in the town I grew up in.
A fresh start for ten-year-old Cora.

The mums at the school gate welcome me straight away. Coffee after drop-off. Drinks at the pub.

Then a message appears from a number I don’t know.

B***H.
Just wait until your new friends find out what you’re really like.

Someone gets into my house.
Someone posts things only I should have seen.
Someone is tearing my perfect family apart, one post at a time.

I’ve never told anyone what I did here, all those years ago.

Now my little girl is gone.
And the latest message asks: How does it feel to lose the one you love the most? by @book_a_holic_17

🪞Question 1🪞

Erm....I'm getting palpitations just thinking about this question!!

Hi, my name is Sonja and I'm a self-confessed homebody.

I love my home comforts
I love being cosy with a hot drink, a book and a blanket
Thank you very much 🥰

Hahaha....I guess that tells you all you need to know ....

But I did camp a couple of times when I was younger...

Once with my (now) hubby.
We went away with his parents - they got the caravan, we took the tent.
It wasn't exactly roughing it either, but I slept not one wink and in the morning, my (now) in-laws said "wow, we've never heard a tent giggle so much"
And I can confirm that I died on the spot and have no clue why I was giggling (unless it was nerves) but there was 100% nothing else going on in that tent 😵🤷🏻‍♀️

The second time was in our own tent in our own garden with some very small boy children - who loved every second - whilst I nipped inside for a cup of tea, a wee and a nap midway through the night 🤭 by @book_a_holic_17

No Tune Ned

Oliver Lendon

🌟🌟🌟🌟

Once again, I find myself drawn to and absolutely loving books that maybe aren't aimed at my demographic!

This exciting story for the competent young reader was just the thing I needed to decompress after a heavy and packed spooky season.

And who could not be intrigued by this bright front cover image - yep, I'm looking at that goat especially!

Ok, so maybe not instantly because as a musician, I honed in on those music notes and title - but as soon as I saw that little goat silhouette, I was absolutely sold.

In a world where music is power, poor Ned found himself struggling.

With no great singing voice, he found himself more of a hindrance than a help.

That is until The Crooner Below started to steal all the voices and maybe, just maybe, Ned held all the answers.

This was a crazy journey and I loved every second.

With an exciting adventure storyline, this is sure to have those younger readers hooked from start to finish.

I was gripped by the first few pages and immersed for the duration.

I actually devoured this in one sitting as the short chapters were perfect for the disillusionist in me that thought I'd just sneak another chapter in before stopping - then finding myself there and hour later at the end of the book!

I loved all the musical elements obviously, but it was the characters that really had my heart.

The descriptive writing transported me to this world and gave me such vivid images of the landscape and all the weird and wonderful creatures too.....including Clove who kept me entertained for the entirety.

This is just the type of book and story that had me reading late into the night when I was younger and inspired my love of books and I'm sure that this will help a whole new generation of readers grow too.

I had so much fun here but also loved that underneath all the fun, there was an important lesson to pass in and that is to not worry about being different or doing things in your own way, because even if there are things you can't do, there will be so many more things that you'll be great at! by @book_a_holic_17

Étude

Zaide Williams

🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was another new author for me and I was instantly drawn in by the beautiful, yet intriguing front cover image.

I love the colours and the border design, but wondered what the glasses would have to do with the storyline.

This is the first book in the Muse series and I assumed that this would turn out to be an epic tale of love - but as I never read blurbs, I was excited to dive in and discover our new characters and their stories.

I had no idea that this was going to be a paranormal read and one that revolves around two characters who are forever destined to be together, but things never run smoothly.

Now I hope I'm not giving spoilers when I say that Everest is the sort of brooding vampire MMC that we all dream of ....oh, just me?

Well, I absolutely loved him and his intense protective nature when it comes to Elma.

Their connection was immediately apparent despite the fact that poor Elmansoeant remember anything that had gone before.

This was beautifully told and I was completely immersed in this world from start to finish.

The development of the characters was so good and I loved the way that their backstory I folded gradually through the book.

The world building was a little clunky in places, but I actually normally struggle with this aspect anyway, so didn't worry too much and I was already hooked in a d raced ahead to find out what was going to happen next.

Overall a great first read and start to this series.

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens through book 2 now. by @book_a_holic_17

Fake It Under The Mistletoe

Claudia Burgoa

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Having recently read Fake It 'Til Fall by this author (and their other books over the year) I absolutely had to get my hands on this new release and get my festive reads started.

Bow, I say festive reads, but this actually wasn't too full on despite it's title.

Set over the Christmas period a d with some dubious mistletoe placements to help the story along - this really would work being read at any time of the year.

Physical therapist, Montserrat is assigned to take care of the famous ice hockey star, Crew Wolf craft over a busy weekend holiday period.

He's been lying about his recent pain and Montse is determined to keep him in recovery before he ends his career.

When a misunderstanding at a press event causes them to announce that Crew and Montse are engaged, they both (with some persuasion) agree to fake it - just for now .....if course we all know what will really happen.

I love a fake dating - or in this case, fake engagement, trope.

Even better when it involves a sassy fmc and an upright, grumpy mmc.

This was a super slow burn given the circumstances, but as the tension builds and the pair open up to each other more, they both realise that their careers are not the only thing they fear losing.

When the Alice hits - it really hits!

As much as I absolutely loved this pair and all their banter, I cannot deny that that final epilogue was the icing on the cake.

Best character pov ever, to finish the story off so beautifully - I was split between crying with laughing and crying at the absolute genius!

I'm loving this series so much and only just realised that I haven't even read book 1 yet!

I'm off to rectify this asap.

Brilliant read - superb narration as ever by Jason Clarke and a brilliant introduction to a new narrator to me, Stacy Gonzalez.

The connection between them during the whole book was excellent and I loved the personalities that they brought out so well.

💕Thank you to the author and The Smuthood for my ARC copy - this is my honest review💕 by @book_a_holic_17

📦Book Mail📦

It's always a good day when there's book mail - but it's so special when an author has taken the time to add extra touches too.

It doesn't take much to make me happy - I'm always so honoured to receive the beautiful books to take care of - so I'm not even talking about tons of goodies added to parcels - just something as simple as these stickers around the book, just makes me so, so happy.

This book follows on from The Butterflies Of Meadow Hill Manor which I read a while ago (but reread recently knowing this was coming).
I absolutely loved the magic of the first book and I'm so excited to dive straight into this and continue Amethyst's story.

↪️Swipe to discover a hidden secret I found when I slid off the sticker band 🦋😱🦋

I was ready to use the sticker band as a bookmark but look how stunning this magnetic one is 😍

🥰Thank you so much to @sparks_writing for this beautiful package and to @lovebookstours for having me along on the tour which starts on 14th November

👀Keep watch for my tour review on the 16th by @book_a_holic_17

Growing up in a quaint North Carolina beach town, the two of us were inseparable. Ellie and I were thick as thieves. But with our last names came pressure and responsibility.

At eighteen, we went our separate ways, but we never lost each other. The two of us shared a bond that couldn’t be broken—not even by distance or decades.

But when Ellie returns to our small town under a smokescreen of scandal and secrets, our past might be the only thing that can salvage the life she's worked so hard to build.

I’ve never kissed her, but now I’m calling her my fiancée. Our engagement is the headline of Page Six.

Ellie was my first friend. My first crush. My first love.

I would do anything to be hers forever.

The question is: will the girl of my dreams finally become my wife? Or will the weight of our names drag us down?

We Chase Shadows
Richard Osman

🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was one series that I actually thought I wasn't going to continue with ...let me explain...

I pretty much devoured the whole series (so far) in The Thursday Murder Club. Five whole books in quick succession and I blooming loved them all.

Having become very well versed in the joys of our quartet, I found it quite jarring to then come straight into this new series - which felt very Osman and similar enough, but without the character connection that I'd built up.
Basically, I didn't really gel with the characters at all in the first book.

However, I kept seeing this one around and I just couldn't resist and you know what - I am so happy I did it!
Having had that break away from Coopers Chase, I found it so easy to come back to this read with Amy, Steve and Rosie and become immersed in their new investigation.

I love how on the surface, this group looks chaotic, each character with their own side story, yet they come together perfectly to solve not one, not two, but many murders throughout this read.

I really had the chance to connect with the characters, backstories, personalities and all this time around. Having had the time in the first book, this just came naturally and to see how each of them developed here was great.
Each caught up in their own turmoil, but all determined to find out just what's been going on and who is to blame.

The characters are a random group again, but somehow this works well and the case was super twisty and kept me guessing.

The writing style is classic Osman so expect some very dry humour throughout.
Oh and did I mention that I adore the setting - especially as it's not far from where I live and I honestly wish I could just nip down to the pub and grab a drink with these 3!

Definitely been hooked back into this series and will certainly be grabbing any future books.

PS - audio book perfection - I mean Nicola Walker ....say less! 🥰 by @book_a_holic_17
