I finished Blood and Betrayals last night. I feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest and stomped on. And so naturally, I start Sorrow & Strangers immediately last night and 60 pages in- THIS BOOK ALSO HAS ME SOBBING. Do the authors enjoy seeing us readers in pain like this? Idk but I will be spending the day reading Sorrow & Strangers anyways ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿฅฒโค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ #avalonuniversity by @bookish_x_ari

Hood feminism is such an informative and incredibly important book. Essentially itโ€™s a critique on the yt feminism movement, which consequently left out Black women & Black queer people from all aspects. Modern day feminism really does oppress people that donโ€™t fall in line with those โ€œunwritten standardsโ€ and the oppression disproportionally affects Brown and Black people. White feminists must do better to address these issues and to be more inclusive. Believing by Anita Hill addresses all the ways in which gender violence has been systematically approved of and tolerated by the US government. All the different ways that gender violence wreaks havoc on our society. & the fact that gender violence doesnโ€™t just impact women, it heavily impacts queer people, gender nonconforming people, and men. But the main perpetrator is other men. Men in powerful places on the social hierarchy. These are two books that I will, for the rest of my life, repeatedly open back up to find quotes to apply to real life situations happening today. by @bookish_x_ari
I need to post more so here are some books I bought today. Iโ€™m currently reading Believing by Anita Hill. I recently finished Yellow Wife by Sadeqa Johnson and Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall, both 5 star reads for me. I donโ€™t have a lot to say about the books other than everybody should read them. I wish I wouldโ€™ve had books like these in school that were required reading. by @bookish_x_ari
Starting my year off right with a sapphic soft sci-fi romance. Weโ€™ve got Black, disabled, neurodivergent, & trans representation. Iโ€™m a sucker for found family and opposites attract so Iโ€™m ready to meet Marlowe & Tanisira๐Ÿ’œ and those of you who do the first line test, I think this book passes. โ€œI am going to fucking kill my ex.โ€ LMAOOO okay Marlowe, tell us more ๐Ÿคญ Tethered by TJ Williams #indieauthor #sapphicscifibooks #books #space #queerbooks by @bookish_x_ari
