Had the absolute best time last night getting to see one of my all time favorite authors in person @lbardugo ❤️🖤

So grateful to @wildgeesebookshop for all the amazing author opportunities they’ve given over the last few years!

“There was never anyone else for me but you…” 🎬📀

I read Nothing Like the Movies this weekend, and now I have to go back and read the short stories about these two because I’m not ready to be done 🥲 I loooved Better Than the Movies, after reading it because my huge Lynn Painter fan bestie was taking me along to a talk/signing— had the time of my life there— and decided afterward perhaps I am going to be a Lynn Painter girly as well. I was worried I’d be bored in Nothing Like the Movies because I don’t always like sequels after a couple is together but I should’ve known Lynn would bring the angsty second chance sports romance vibes.

I’m saving First and Forever for football season, so which of her books should I read in the meantime?

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

God I so badly wanted this to be good, and it had SO MUCH potentially to be amazing but the dialogue was just so bad, it was hard to get passed it. The storytelling of it would be so beautiful and then suddenly a warlock in a fantasy realm says “you’re fucking sexy as shit” hello???!! The first spice scene was pretty good and creative as far as incorporating magic goes and remembering this is a fantasy story but the second one was god awful, I could barely stomach it lol. The plot itself was so interesting and I loved the world building of it all but the dialogue!!! I just couldn’t get passed it. I believe this is a duology, which I appreciate these days, not everything needs to be an eight book series. I MIGHT pick up the second book when it comes out, we’ll see lol.

God, this was so good. I’ve had it on my shelf for a while and wanted to finally read it before going to see the odyssey because all of my Homer/mythology knowledge comes from Percy Jackson and feminist retellings. I completely tore through it. It was so heartbreakingly tragic while also empowering. The prose was beautiful, I will definitely have to read more from this author.
