POSTS STORIES REELS

🌹An updated “meet the bookstagrammer” post 🌹

QOTD: what made you set up your booksta account?

It’s been a while since I done one of these so I thought it was time to update mine.

The reason I set up my bookstagram was to try and find people to connect with who loved reading, loved talking about reading and to have someone to gush to about my favourite books.

I can’t begin to express how special this community has become to me, and I know some people think connections on social media aren’t “real” but for me, I consider each and every person I interact with as a friend and I have made some amazing friends along the way! So thank you all for being so amazing!

Just some facts about me for anyone new:

🌹Married, no kids, just my pug 🐶
🌹I live in Northern Ireland
🌹favourite genres are Fantasy, romance, gothic and classics
🌹I adore Autumn and winter - also autumn starts in August
🌹I’ve tried and failed to learn Spanish 3 times 😂
🌹my favourite pastime (other than book shopping) is to go for a coffee with my husband and force him to go to TKMaxx with me
🌹cinnamon rolls are a superior accompaniment to coffee
🌹speaking of cinnamon rolls- anything cinnamon scented, I love!
🌹I suffer from social anxiety and never want to go anywhere(even though I always love it when I do)
🌹I am one of 6 children (3 older brothers and 2 younger sisters)
🌹some of my favourite music is from musicals and movie scores
🌹I love 80s power ballads (and the crazy big hair ngl)
🌹I wanted to be a composer for animated films when I was younger- quickly realised I did not have that talent 😂
🌹learned to play the flute, Baratone and Drums while at school - I’ve always been musical and if I’d had more confidence, I may have pursued a career in singing
🌹my favourite Disney movie will always be Beauty and the beast (cliché I know lol)
🌹favourite musical without doubt is Moulin Rouge
🌹my first crush was a cartoon (not the beast 😜)
🌹when I was around 9/10 - I pretended I was having trouble reading in school so I could go to the dedicated reading class 😂
🌹I studied Criminology and Criminal justice…. I work in IT sales 😂

That’s all I can think of right now 💕 by @booksandmoe

✨November Releases✨

I think we can all agree that the last few months have been crazy for new releases, and it’s not stopping just yet!

These are the books I’m most excited about releasing this month, and even though I’m still catching up, and will most definitely not get to all of these, they will all be firmly added to my never ending TBR 😂

Are any of these on your list? 💕 by @booksandmoe

💜Bewitched Pages -The Infernal Devices💜

💭Do you buy SEs (or any books) second hand?

Lately I’ve been seriously considering cancelling my subscription box subscriptions, mainly because these days we have so much choice when it comes to SEs that I don’t feel like any of the sub boxes feel that special any more.

I’m always scouring Vinted to see what beautiful editions others may be selling, and while most of the prices are wild (seriously, people need to get real) you always get someone reselling for a reasonable price.

My latest acquisition is The Infernal Devices series by @bewitched.pages , aren’t they stunning 😍 so happy to have these to add to my Cassandra Clare shrine 😂💕 by @booksandmoe

✨ Surprising reads✨

I went into this one with pretty low expectations after not loving Kate Golden’s previous series, but the Buffy comparisons convinced me to give it a go, and I’m SO glad I did!

This was such a compulsively readable urban fantasy! I loved the mysteries, the twists and the found family vibes we got with the other students at the academy. Viv wasn’t always the most likeable FMC, but I enjoyed her complexity, and diving into her backstory. Wasn’t loving the romance but not convinced that’s such a bad thing with the way this one ended IYKYK.

I did have a little gripe in that these characters are meant to be 21 but sometimes act much younger. Being grounded over the summer at 21?! 😂

Other than that, that ending had me wanting to pick up book two immediately! Definitely a pleasant surprise, and I can’t wait to see where the series goes next. ✨

💭 What’s a book that surprised you in the best way? by @booksandmoe

10 before the end 📚📚📚

QOTD: What books do you want to read before the end of the year? 💕

If there’s one thing I love doing, it’s making a million TBRs throughout the year that I have a 10% chance of actually getting to. I did make this list in September and am yet to read any of these books 😂

However, these are books I’ve either had on my TBR for a long time or have heard amazing things about, I keep getting distracted by new releases but I’m hoping this will keep me accountable to at least reading half of this list - I make no promises. by @booksandmoe

Witchy Wednesday ✨

It’s officially spooky season and there have been so many books I have been dying to read but have put off to read around this time of year.

Something about reading witchy books in October just enhances the experience for me, I’m not even a huge Halloween lover (I know , SHAME!) but I do love “spooky season” and just the atmosphere around this time of year.

These are 3 of the highest witchy books on my TBR and I’m really hoping to get to them this month!

QOTD: what’s your favourite witchy read? 💕 by @booksandmoe

5 star reads 💫

QOTD: what makes a book a 5 star read for you?

For me, I’m very much a vibes reader and if it *feels* like a 5 star, it’s getting a 5 star 😂 but when I look at my soul books and the ones I’ve rated most highly, it usually because they made me feel, and lose myself in reading.

The Bright Years by Sarah Damoff was a recent 5⭐️ for me and it’s mostly because, even though I’ve never gone through what the characters were experiencing, I really felt like I was right in their shoes. Sarah Damoff had a way of transporting me right into the story and it was such an emotional rollercoaster, but ultimately I had a feeling of hope when finishing it. Cannot wait to read The Burning Side by her now! 💕 by @booksandmoe

🍂Cosy Autumn Reads 🍂

I’m definitely more of a spooky/gothic reader around this time of year, but I do find myself wanting to have some more cosy feeling stories on my TBR to break that these days.

These are some of my favourite cosier reads from the last few years, have you read any of these?

Let me know your top cosy autumnal recommendations 🍂🍁 by @booksandmoe

Happy October 🍁🎃👻

And happy start to arguably one of my favourite reading months of the year! While I have so many new releases I want to get to, I do have quite a few back log “spooky books” I am determined to read this year!

Have you read any of these? What are you prioritising this October? 💕 by @booksandmoe

✨New Bookshelves✨

QoTD: do you have all your books in one room, scattered about the house (like me) or are you a kindle reader? 💕

I was a little MIA last week and most of that was because I was doing a lot of decorating and reorganising in my bedroom, which included the addition of these new bookshelves!!! (swipe to see true colours without filter)

I think I’ve said it before but I’m pretty sure this is OFFICIALLY my last space for any shelves so I truly do need to be more picky with what I’m keeping but I’m so glad to finally have some more room to display some of my favourites! 💕 by @booksandmoe

Overwhelming TBRs 📚📚

QOTD: what’s the last new release you read?

Anyone else feel like their drowning atm with all the new releases they need to get to? I feel like we need to speak to someone in publishing to insist that they space out these releases in the future 😂

I am however happy to say that so far, none have been disappointing me, especially my latest read The Knave and the Moon by Rachel Gillig! This to me was the perfect sequel, I love this world, I love these characters and I’m so sad it’s over! But at least it will always be there for me to revisit when I’m missing Bartholomew 🖤 by @booksandmoe
