Making The Book of the Dead was a true labor of love, and I couldn't be more happy with how it turned out. I have wanted to cosplay and create props since I was a preteen and first saw Black Widow in Iron Man. So even though it was for a Halloween costume, I approached our costumes as if it was a cosplay and wanted everything to be perfect. The Mummy is one of my favorite movies, and one of the first movies I remember ever watching - it was on FX a LOT when I was little 😆 I've never worked with EVA foam or created a prop before, but I'm pretty damn crafty and knew I'd figure it out along the way. I watched one tutorial and winged it from there. The biggest issue I ran into was my own ADHD 😅 I somehow lost one of the four birds I made out of air dry foam clay, but it was actually for the best because I made them even better the second time. It took a lot of foam, burns from the hot glue gun, fumes from the wood burner, and staring at pictures of the original prop. But I could not be happier with how it turned out 🥹 We'll definitely be cosplaying as Rick and Evy again, but until then, the book will proudly be displayed in my office 🩷 by @bree.bartos

Tell people why and they might be a bit annoyed, but they'll do it. Skip the why and someone's ordering the best brisket in Dallas to throw a $6k office party on the company card. The 'Bad VP' in this story was just asking for malicious compliance by telling OP "IT has no lives" followed up by encouraging them to "use their company card for a party and go wild" 😬 Spoiler alert: The IT department had a $6,000 4th of July party. New episode of Reacting to Reddit at work where I introduce Pinaki and Lottie to r/MaliciousCompliance is now live on the Why Does It Feel So Wrong to be Human at Work? podcast! @joinicology's Flyover Festival was one of my favorite events to photograph this year. The most smiles, the most laughs, and the most natural light 😍 Photos taken by me as part of the @localwisdominc Event Amplify Program 😊 by @bree.bartos
