The design request: take the living room’s existing all-neutral upholstery and drapery ‘Blank Pallet’ situation and pump up the volume. Add some interest.

Lead-edge tape trim from @samuelandsons added to the linen drapery, interesting profiles in coffee tables/side tables, custom pillows, with the stars of the show aka the feature elements being the Berber rug I found and shipped back from Morocco, and the gorgeous fine art sourced from a local Park City favorite, @summitgallerypc . The Flair factors.

You’ve probably seen our living room before. But have you seen what we started with? Be grateful this isn’t a scratch-and-sniff because the smell still lives rent-free in our heads 🫠

Vaulting the ceiling changed everything. Insulating it ourselves nearly ended us. We traded the window on the right for French doors to bring in that indoor-outdoor living we love. The blinds are closed because the outdoor portion was still… dirt.

And yes, that’s the same fireplace! Our framer built out the surround, and we tackled the smooth stucco finish ourselves. A little sweat, a few questionable DIY decisions, and a room that finally feels like us.

Macaroni, naturally, thinks this entire renovation was about finding his light.

Why did we get rid of the orange and blue?? Tragic, we know 😭

But in reality, this Mission-style kitchen needed a little TLC. The brief: calm and soothing, with a little personality. Slab-front walnut cabinetry lets the wood grain do its thing, while green shaker cabinets bring a fresh hit of color. A larger window lets the light pour in, and marble paired with living bronze hardware will develop a patina over time. A little calmer, a little brighter, and only getting better with age (relatable) 💅

@brewersweet.co is founded by the married duo of Garrett and Jonathan, an honest and candid couple who have spent their lives working their hardest to eventually land in interior design, a field they lined for but never knew would be their calling.

Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer. Even though it generally feels like summer year-round out here In Santa Barbara.

And it definitely won’t feel like the end of summer any time soon in this very special custom home in Summerland, CA, a recent collab project of ours with @brewersweet.co.

This one’s proof that Flair doesn’t need to be wildly colorful. Strong color or graphic patterns aren’t your thing? Not a problem. A neutral-palette beach home, any home for that matter, can still be wildly personal, memorable, warm, fun.

The architectural materials should be (can be, I bristle at the word ‘should,’ the rule resister in me) completely tonal and without any strong contrast. Soft and creamy, sun kissed, that’s the vibe. Same comment for the upholstered pieces and accents. Add the color pops in the art, pastel and sun-faded leathers, muted color tiles à la farm fresh eggs. Creams and warm beiges over anything bright white. And yes - the surfboards in this first image, their coolio surf grotto which is visible as you approach the front door, can be a design statement that sets the tone for the rest of the home. Live with what you love, unapologetically. That’s the real definition of Flair. 😎✌🏼⚡️

Good design should have a personality | @brewersweet.co embraces striking color, bold art, and playful, unexpected details to create spaces that feel deeply personal and distinctly their own. Layered, eclectic, and full of personality, these are homes that break the mold. by @brewersweet.co

I have done an absolutely terrible job posting anything all Summer, but the good news is that I’m back with a fun BTS video from an Orange County shoot for @brewersweet.co with @____nate.newell Such a great day with the best crew 🌻

Well hey, we’re excited by the extra photos we got back from our shoot for @tsgnewportbeach, so it seemed like a great time to talk about ourselves again. (lol)

We’re BrewerSweet Co., an interior design studio creating homes that feel collected, considered, and very much like the people who live in them.

Married duo @jbrewersweet & @gbrewersweet started this business 6 years ago while both working full time elsewhere. Jonathan now runs the business full time with Garrett helping in the wings and behind the scenes. And it wouldn’t be possible without the help of our designer @ava_marinelli.

The three of us, @gbrewresweet, @jbrewersweet, and @ava_marinelli, are all based in Orange County, CA. We love spaces that feel art-forward, a little playful, and, most importantly, have ~soul~. We design homes for people who like nice things and don’t take life too seriously. You might hear us refer to it as “Approachable Luxury.”

We work with people who care deeply about their homes, and love the creative process, but don’t necessarily know how to make it all work together. Our process works best when it’s collaborative. Our clients appreciate beautiful things, trust the process, and want a home that feels layered, personal, comfortable, and genuinely livable. And while Southern California is home, we work with plenty of lovely folks in Park City, too. 🤠(And we’ve just started projects in a few other states. Needless to say, we’ll travel if it’s the right fit!)

Basically, we help turn houses into homes that look really damn good and still reflect the real people who live there.

What did we miss? 🤔🤍

The glow up for both of us has been REAL. 😂 Selfie circa 2021 because we wanted to jump scare you today.

But while our hair, tans, and camera quality have evolved... our opinions have not.

We are once again checking in to make sure you did not buy the matching furniture set.

Because the little decisions are the ones that make the biggest difference. Measure the room. Test the paint. Save money for the layers that actually make a house feel like your house. And remember that the prettiest room in the world still has to survive dogs, kids, red wine, and whatever else life throws at it.

Just your friendly neighborhood interior designers, making sure everyone is making good choices. 💋
