Brilliant Corners’ Multifamily Housing Development Team creates housing solutions through new construction, acquisition, preservation, and rehabilitation of underutilized properties that can be rapidly converted to housing.

For more than a decade, Brilliant Corners has joined together with government partners, municipal agencies, nonprofit organizations, and mission-minded architecture and construction firms to develop new multifamily sites and increase access to affordable housing units across the state.

“These people gave me hope. They gave me another chance to live my actual life.”

Kelly was the first resident to move into Las Palmas Apartments, a new multifamily supportive housing site developed by Brilliant Corners in partnership with The Richman Group. Las Palmas provides 53 apartments in the Wilmington neighborhood of Los Angeles.

At Las Palmas, residents receive wrap-around case management services onsite from Brilliant Corners. Kelly's team at Brilliant Corners helped her enroll in school, where she will be pursuing a degree in Communications. Kelly hopes to become a motivational speaker, guiding people on how to seek out support to exit homelessness and achieve their goals.

@jose_a_osuna and our partners at @brilliantcorners_org see a a lot of opportunity in the future of Reentry work in California, especially with new elected officials coming into office next year across the state.

That means, go out and vote for the elected officials you would like to see building with your community and making the changes that help you! by @brilliantcorners_org

What happens when you bring together elected officials, service providers, advocates, and people with lived experience? You get Voices for Change, an opportunity for community members to define what safety and success really looks like for the reentry community.

We had an amazing time partnering with @lareentry.larrp and @safeandjust for this truly transformative event. In case you missed the event, check out the full recap linked in our bio.🔗 by @brilliantcorners_org

Transition-age youth are at high risk for housing instability. Additional barriers like #accessibility needs can make finding housing even more challenging. That’s why we’re proud to partner with @jovenes_outreach, our newest featured grantee in the Interim Housing Accessibility Improvement Fund (IHAIF) program.

Jovenes, Inc. runs an interim housing and supportive services facility for transition-age youth experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles. With the support of the IHAIF Grant Program, Jovenes completed multiple accessibility improvements, including the installation of an inclined platform lift, the renovation of 2 restrooms to be fully #ADA compliant, and modifications to bring the slope of their parking lot up to ADA code and add a parking spot for clients with ambulatory disabilities. These modifications greatly improve access throughout the property and ensure residents with disabilities can more safely and independently navigate essential living spaces.

The Interim Housing Accessibility Improvement Fund is operated in partnership with @lacarehealth, @healthnet, @lacountyhsh, and @brilliantcorners_org, and provides funding to Interim Housing providers for accessibility-related #construction projects that improve access or usability for people with disabilities. In order to break the cycle of incarceration and homelessness, we must address the discrimination and stigma that prevent people from pursuing a brighter future for themselves and their families. Fair Chance Housing policies and supportive housing initiatives like our Breaking Barriers program create opportunities for people to receive care, regain stability, access employment, reconnect with family and community, and improve their quality of life. They also mean greater safety for our community as a whole.

Through trauma-informed, person-centered support, our housing coordinators and case managers help participants take the lead in transforming their lives and proactively maintaining their housing stability. By helping participants identify their own motivations, goals, and reasons for change, and by listening to and acknowledging their concerns, our team builds trusting relationships that are the foundation for #HousingSuccess.

Check out this recent client story to see a great example of how our approach to ongoing support works to create positive change and break the cycle of homelessness.🏠️

Meet Eric, one of our San Mateo participants. Eric found himself in need of housing when he no longer required the level of care he was receiving at a skilled nursing facility. Eric's team at Brilliant Corners worked with him to find an apartment with the additional supports he needed to adjust to independent living.

He remembers move-in day with Brilliant Corners’ staff and caregivers there to help set up his new place, making sure food was in the fridge and doctor appointments were scheduled. In his apartment, Eric keeps a special photo of his move-in day with his "angels" at Brilliant Corners who supported him throughout the process. by @brilliantcorners_org

We are proud to share with the advocacy efforts our External Affairs team engaged in during the Spring and Summer seasons including:
📢 Advocating with 40 homeless service and community organizations, including @housingca, @naeh_endhomelessness, and the Bring CA Home coalition to reject cuts to CalAIM Community Supports.
📢 Joining advocates from across LA County for a lobby day organized by @reimagine_la a coalition of advocates, community organizations and neighbors working towards care-first community investments.
📢 Partnering with the @lareentry.larrp and @safeandjust for Voices of Change, a community event at the @calendow that brought together more than 200 attendees to discuss reentry, civic engagement, housing, and community safety.
