America. You know how to throw a party. Happy 250. by @brodyj
Sometimes a gift is more than a gift. For our Meant for Good series, Kari hand-stitched this piece as part of the creation of our bumper video. Our film team captured the process of this being created. Revealing the tension of the threads, the patience of the work, and the way scattered colors slowly came together into something beautiful. It was such a fitting picture of Joseph’s story. Joseph’s life was full of moments he could not have understood as they were happening: pain, disappointment, delay, loss, waiting, and uncertainty. Yet through it all, God was still present. Still working. Still weaving a story of redemption that Joseph could only see clearly on the other side. That has been one of the gifts of walking through this story together as a church. We have been reminded that God is faithful in the tangled places. He is not absent in the waiting. And He is able to bring beauty, purpose, and grace out of seasons we never would have chosen for ourselves. Thank you, @thekarijhall for this generous and meaningful gift. And thank you to our film team for helping us see the story before we ever heard a word preached. I will treasure this for a long time. by @brodyj
Forgotten is not the same as forsaken! In Genesis 40, Joseph was forgotten by people, but never forgotten by God. While he sat in a prison cell he didn’t deserve, God was quietly forming Joseph into the kind of person who can carry authority without becoming bitter. The same is true for us. In our waiting seasons, God is at work—shaping our character, deepening our trust, and preparing us for what comes next. #genesis40 #waitingseason by @brodyj

Farewell to a year that felt like a wilderness—where shadows stretched long and silence hung heavy, veiling the horizon. The rain hid the stars, the mist obscured the hills, and the blue of the sky lay hidden behind clouds. It was a season of stumbling, of aching questions, of walking in darkness that seemed to press closer with each step. And yet, even here, a hand reached out. If we may hold it—just hold it—it is enough. For though the dark happenings of our lot may hide the shining of His face, He does not fall. His steps do not falter, even when ours fail. The wilderness, though barren and unrelenting, is not the end of the story. Streams will flow through the wasteland, and unseen paths will rise beneath our feet. ‘See, I am doing a new thing; now it springs up, do you not perceive it?’ (Isaiah 43:19). To those still wandering in the dark: hold fast. The God who steadies the stars and breathes life into the dry earth walks with you, even when the way is hidden. The breaking will not destroy you. The silence will not define you. Renewal is already stirring, unseen yet unyielding, waiting to rise. To the year that has passed: we release you—the weight, the sorrow, the refining—with the hope that no tear was wasted. To the year ahead: we step toward you with trembling hearts, believing that the God who walks beside us is still at work, bringing rivers to deserts and light to the shadows. Here’s to the beauty of a hand held in the dark, to hope rising unseen, and to the quiet miracle of a God who never stumbles. 📷 by Scott Erickson by @brodyj
It’s been a night without stars, a silence so heavy it felt as though the world itself had forgotten to breathe. There were moments when the darkness pressed in too close, and the weight of abandonment whispered that the story might end here, swallowed by the shadows. But then—a child. Fragile, unassuming, yet radiant with a promise older than time: the darkness does not hold the final word. In the cry of a baby, light pierces the night, hope finds its voice, and the long ache of waiting is met with the gentle promise of renewal. This is the story written into the fabric of creation, the story that holds us all. A child born in obscurity, carrying the weight of eternity, promising an end to the night and the dawn of something new. For those still waiting in the dark: hold fast. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. by @brodyj
