Dear Member and friends,

Pastel on velour workshop now 2nd October St George's Church Hall, Bickley.

We have organised a special workshop for member, friends and potential members so if interested please contact me at
membership.bromleyartsociety@gmail.com

Here is a message from Lee our professional artist lead and tutor.....

"My name is Lee and I am a member of the Bromley Art Society. I have been asked to hold a pastel workshop of an animal portrait on behalf of the society. For those who don’t know me I have been holding workshops and teaching art classes for over 20 years in pastels, acrylic and drawing, mostly animals but sometimes other subjects. I have attached the beautiful picture you will be working from and this will be painted on the ideal paper called Velour as this captures the texture of the animals soft fur.

During the workshop I will explain what velour paper is and explain how its fuzzy felt surface holds pastel very well and it is really ideal for soft edge work and is very popular with portrait artists including animals.

On the day we would also practice on the paper with pastels and talk about pastels in general. Yes OK pastels can be a mess to the inexperienced but they can produce beautiful pictures. Pastels on velour is no exception.

Please take a look at 2 more examples of paintings I have done in the past workshops which have been very popular

I hope you will join me".

This workshop is open to all members, friends of members and potential members. Those who have already registered will be given priority. Please get back to me at membership.bromleyartsociety@gmail.com to register your interest.

If you have already please confirm if you are able to attend the new date. There is a maximum of 24 spaces so its on a first come first serve basis. The cost is £25 for non members of Bromley Art Society and £20 for members.

Kind Regards,

Paul
Chairman and membership secretary of Bromley Art Society. by @bromleyartsociety
