Featuring up and coming and emerging writers who have taken part in our programming. Featured artists are Asiah Sparks, Kizzy Browne, Folly, Robin Cunningham, Drue Robyn, Sunil Sarwal, and Andre Fenton. Come celebrate a night of performance, writing and community. Entry is pay what you can. Asiah Sparks is an African Nova Scotian creative, storyteller, spoken word artist, and community advocate from Dartmouth, with roots in the historic Black community of Lake Loon. Their work explores themes of love, identity, healing, and truth, centering joy, vulnerability, and the richness of Black experiences. Through storytelling and community engagement, Asiah creates spaces for reflection, dialogue, and creative expression. A former Youth Poet Laureate of Halifax and recipient of both the Provincial and HRM Volunteer of the Year Awards, Asiah currently serves as a Community Educator with the Youth Project, supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ youth across Nova Scotia. Kizzy Browne is a spoken word artist and disability support and mental health specialist based in Kjipuktuk with over ten years of experience. Kizzy is passionate about writing, empowering others, promoting mental wellness, and helping people recognize their strengths and potential. Through their writing, they use their experiences and lessons learned to motivate, inspire, and encourage others to embrace authenticity, self-discovery, and personal growth. Folly is a multidisciplinary artist based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, whose practice spans painting, creative writing, music, and modelling. Originally from Moncton, New Brunswick, she moved to Halifax in 2015 for university and felt wonderfully welcomed by the city. Over the past decade, she has built an extensive anthology of creative work, was featured in galleries and participated in numerous collaborative photoshoots. Deeply informed by her degree in psychology and her personal lived experience with CPTSD, Folly’s work examines the raw human experience, evolving from individual introspection into a broader expl by @bstcnarrativeprogram

Sunil Sarwal (www.sarwal.ca) is a brand designer and writer residing in Kjipuktuk/Halifax. As a queer and neurodivergent child of immigrants, he uses the tropes of genre fiction to explore themes of grief, trauma, and growing up as an outsider. His work has appeared in Polar Borealis, the Blue Lobster Detective Agency, and various local publications.  Asiah Sparks is an African Nova Scotian creative, storyteller, spoken word artist, and community advocate from Dartmouth, with roots in the historic Black community of Lake Loon. Robin Cunningham (she/her) is an award-winning storyteller and visual artist based in Halifax (Kjipuktuk), with Xaymaca Afro-Indigenous roots and a Latin soul. Her creative offerings weave together cultural celebration, identity reclamation, and soul restoration. Drue Robyn (she/her) is an interdisciplinary writer and copyeditor whose daily horrors include thinking about declining literacy rates and the sudden absence of media comprehension. Weird, almost like we need libraries? Most recently, Drue performed in the Bus Stop Theatre’s 2025 StART festival; collaborated with both Probably Poetry and Plum Poetry as a Featured Poet; and wrote, staged, and produced shows for the 2025 and 2026 Halifax Fringe Festi by @bstcnarrativeprogram

Tonight's the night! Let's Talk and Let's Write is back in a new form. In these monthly sessions, we invite IBPOC writers and other writers in equity-deserving groups* to gather. The structure stays the same - with some time for writing and learning, and some time for conversing and connecting with other artists. This Fall, each session will have a different theme — stage directions, stakes, and dialogue — so writers can strengthen different parts of their practices! This is a low-pressure, low-stakes environment to connect with your own practice and other writers. Our first fall session is presented in partnership with PARC Company Member The Bus Stop Theatre! PARC AD Santiago Guzmán will be joined by Andre Fenton, leader of the Bus Stop Theatre's Narrative Program, for an evening of inspiration, creation, and connection. *PARC understands equity-owed communities as those who historically have been silenced, systemically oppressed, or erased, including (but not limited to) Indigenous & racialized communities, members of the 2SLGBTQAI+ community, women, migrants, and artists with disabilities. WHEN September 22, 2026 - 7-8 pm WHERE The Bus Stop Theatre Community Room - Halifax, NS To register for a session or in the case of questions, please reach out to Santiago Guzmán at ad@playwrightsatlantic.ca. by @bstcnarrativeprogram
