A huge thank you to the Newfoundland Embassy for opening their doors and letting us take over the bar for the morning.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. The ownership, the staff, the food, the service, the way they treat people, all of it.

Places like the Newfoundland Embassy are a huge part of what gives downtown its heartbeat. They don’t just run a great business, they show up for the downtown core, support the community around them, and lead by example in a way that deserves to be recognized.

Two completely different styles collided for Ultimate Championship Wrestling in Halifax back in July 2024. I found the full MavCam footage from Mavs Gillis, cut it down and set it to “Frantic” by Metallica.

Something new from something old.

Back in 2018, New Evolution Wrestling took over halftime at a St. John’s Edge game inside Mile One Centre. “Dynamite” Dylan Davis defended the NEW Championship against Tony King.

I slowed the footage down and rebuilt the edit around “What’s the Matter Man?” by Rollins Band.

This sat in my camera roll until today.

I made it when I first started creating again, returning to editing, directing and social media after almost two years away.

Coming back meant rebuilding more than a workflow. I had to rebuild the confidence to share something I’d made without picking it apart until I talked myself out of posting it.

it’s becoming harder to tell what’s real, and I think that affected me more than I realized. But now, just over 100 days into being back, I’m finding my groove again. I’m learning to be okay with failing again, trying, and sharing.

This is a little behind-the-scenes look at the timeline for the main promo video I made with @buddywrestles . It’s messy, definitely not the messiest timeline I’ve ever had, but nowhere near the cleanest either. It’s also one of the first videos I think I’ll revisit sooner rather than later.

next week, Moondog and I will start cluing up the aftermath of him punching me in the face, how he became @acwrestlingnl Champion…and how I helped make that happen.

For any creators who get trapped inside their own heads, Just don’t let it stop you from sharing.

Your audio isn’t perfect? Share it anyway.
There’s a cut you already want back? Share it anyway.
Let it bother you enough to make the next one better.

Sometimes the work doesn’t have to be perfect. Sometimes it just has to leave your camera roll.

Latest shoot with @buddywrestles

The idea was simple. Sit him down, put on tape of his previous matches with Jonathan Cross, and let the camera watch him watch it.

I tried some things with the audio that I wasn’t totally happy with after, but it still worked, and honestly that’s the whole point. I spent a long time on the corporate side of video making and that voice still lingers in me, the one that wants everything spotless before anybody sees it. The day got busy on top of it and I was hoping to have this up way earlier.

I’m not really one for giving advice. I think we could all do with a little less of it and a little more trusting ourselves. In a world of talking heads and experts, the useful thing is getting comfortable with the gap between the idea in your head and what actually comes out, and sharing it anyway. That voice picking it apart isn’t there to keep you down, it’s there to keep you hungry.
