152 pads and a whole lot of sewing. I made this piece in October of 2024. “Old Enough” is a statement about the sexualization of young girls, as well as the importance of having access to an abortion. I, along with many other people who were raised as female, grew up hearing the phrase “if she’s old enough to bleed, she’s old enough to breed”. If you are not familiar with the saying, it means that if a girl has started menstruating, she is mature enough to have sex or be impregnated. This saying, as well as other vulgar forms, is used by predators. It is often used as a joke by men, when it is in fact not funny. I sewed 152 pads together, by hand, so that when suspended, it would mimic the shape of a uterus. In the center, I wrote the words “OLD ENOUGH” in red paint. I chose to write only these two words because I felt that it would be more jarring, but also because I wanted this piece to touch on several different issues. I wanted it to be impactful for survivors of sexual abuse as well as pro abortion rights activists, not just people who had heard that specific phrase. The words “old enough” and the imagery of the giant uterus is meant to make people think about abortion rights, as a little girl who gets pregnant as a result of abuse is not “old enough” to carry that fetus to term, nor should she have to. It is also meant to force people to look at the dehumanization of the female figure by “wasting” overly expensive menstrual products to create a massive representation of the organ men care so much about.  #vote #votevotevote #abortion #abortionishealthcare #fyp #art #artist #artistsoninstagram #prochoice #modernart #blowthisup #share #womensrights #coolart by @buggaartt

“Bugs For Bones”: my zine for my comic midterm!! this is a short story about growing up with OCD and ADHD. i often describe my anxiety as feeling like my bones are made of bugs, so i created a little hopeful comic for others who may be struggling with their own disabilities. it’s okay to have hard moments. never forget that where you are now is not where you used to be, and you will continue to evolve into a better version of yourself. 🩷 #art #adhd #ocd #comics #mentalhealth by @buggaartt

i feel for jane doe because i, like many others, am her. i am unbelievably disgusted at the dismissal of her case by administrators and detectives alike, but perhaps even more horrified at the 57 men who were in that group chat and chose to do nothing. rapists are enabled and empowered by people like those men, who stood by and did nothing about the 7 hours of sexual torture. that is why it is not enough to criminally charge the rapists. we must also demand accountability from bystanders, and require that indifference is taken as seriously as the actual crime. this is why it will always be death to rapists, and their defenders. #cornelluniversity #artist #art #metoo #politicalart by @buggaartt
