Comfy clothes & coffee is a must by @burbar

We visited my grandma in the Bronx. She lives in the same building I grew up in so a lot of old memories flooded me as I walked around her apartment, the building, & my old neighborhood. She welcomed us with arroz on dulce (always delicious). We got on the fire escape & I told them how I would lay out a blanket and people watch as a kid. My old apartment was two floors down but there’s new tenants. I still took a photo in front of the door. We rode the building elevator even though I was scared I would get stuck in it. That thing is scary lol. I showed my husband & daughter my elementary school, the brown house next to our building where I would throw salchichas to the pitbull puppies they bred (my mom was pissed lmao), where I fell from a scooter and got a scar on my arm, & what stoops I hung out on with the neighborhood kids. I showed them my favorite pizza spot that’s still there and where the Popeyes used to be. We went to the bodega where the old guys used to play dominos all day and night. I bought a bandana at the store around the corner so now it’s my favorite. When we went back to manhattan we ended the day with Los tacos. Seeing how much the neighborhood changed & stayed the same at the same time was shocking. It was perfect. by @burbar
