With 14 propositions, 2 local measures, and 10+ candidates on the ballot this fall, it can be tough to know where to start. The Advocacy Committee at Business For Good San Diego developed a practical, nonpartisan approach to help you sort through the information and reach your own conclusions. It comes down to five questions: 💡 Values: Is this consistent with what matters to me? ⚙️ Efficacy: Can it accomplish what is being promised? 📜 Record: What has this person done, or what happened when similar policies were tried? 🤝 Endorsers and opponents: Who supports or opposes it, and why? 🗣️ Access: Will the people affected have a say in future decisions? Use them one race at a time, in this election and every one after. Read the full guide, plus where to find credible voter resources at the link in our bio. #BusinessForGoodSD by @businessforgood_sd

Is “pro-business” really the opposite of “pro-people”? 🤔 “Money is not the problem. The problem is greed,” says Jay Buys, CEO of Visceral. In our latest blog post, three purpose-driven leaders share how doing good and doing good business were never separate commitments: 💰 Jay Buys of @thisisvisceral on investing in the team that takes care of your clients 🤝 Travis Kushner of @civilianagency on letting the community shape the work from the very first brief 🛡️ Abraham Chen of @blocalsandiego on building systems that protect your mission as you grow The common thread? Values become real when they show up in everyday decisions, and when people and communities thrive, businesses do too. Ready to take your first step? As Abraham puts it, “Dream big, start small, start today.” Read the full story at the link in bio. Photo credit: @thisisvisceral #BusinessForGoodSD by @businessforgood_sd
Cheers to the local businesses supporting our Fall Fundraising Dinner. 🥂 Thanks to the support of these local partners, this gathering at @CoastalRootsFarm can be about so much more than a dinner: 🍻 @AthleticBrewing, with non-alcoholic options for everyone 🍹 @Boochcraft, a B Corp with deep roots in the community 📖 @EdibleSDmag, the local voice on food and community since 2006 Their support makes the night possible. Your ticket makes the work possible. Most small business owners are busy building their businesses. In a 2023 member survey, 71% told us they want to do more advocacy, but 68% said they don’t know how to begin. That’s where Business For Good comes in. When we put our collective voices together, we win together. We were the lone business voice helping pass the styrofoam ban in San Diego, because local businesses deserve a seat at the table. Your seat at the dinner helps us: 🚪 Keep the lights on and the doors open to all 🎓 Offer advocacy training so every local business voice is heard 🌱 Mentor new and young entrepreneurs, showing that anyone can start a business 📅 Thursday, October 29 🕔 5:00 - 8:00 PM 📍 Coastal Roots Farm, 441 Saxony Rd, Encinitas We’re so grateful for this opportunity to bring our community together and build a more equitable, sustainable San Diego. This is your last week to join us and raise a glass to the future of doing good business. Tickets are available through Friday, October 23 at the link in our bio. #BusinessForGoodSD by @businessforgood_sd
Sometimes you have to pivot. When our scheduled speaker fell sick before our October General Member Meeting this week, we shifted to a Member Roundtable. Members shared about their businesses and made an ask to the room, and the connections came fast. And to our speaker: feel better soon! A good reminder for all of us that rest comes first, and there’s never any pressure to show up when you’re not well. Thank you to every member who rolled with the change and made the evening an unexpected, value-packed success. #BusinessForGoodSD by @businessforgood_sd
