𝙈𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘼𝙘𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙙!

I came to the festival to support as many queer YA authors as possible and to let them know how much they mean to me not only as a reader, but as someone who needs these books. As someone who appreciates the challenges and struggles they face being queer authors in an industry and society that challenges them so heavily.

To any of the authors presented, thank you so much for your time and your love! I also took notes from each and every panel I attended (The Google Doc is extensive) and I thought I'd share a quote from each author:

When asked about the diversity in their (Adam's and Robbie's), Adam responded with something along the lines of:

"Think about inclusivity in a genuine way. No one wants a savior, they want sincerity."

And @robbiecouch said something close to:

"When Adam brought up the fact that Sky was originally a gay best friend, that made me aware that the representation I wanted and that we needed was something I was capable of providing."

(I'm so sorry I couldn't get a picture with you, I promise I got you next time! 😭🙏🏾)

@aaronaceves had the most beautiful and meaningful quote from yesterday: "Love sometimes means violence. Love means protection. Love is protection."

And @jonnyinstas had the most tweet worthy quote of the day with, "Solely because I am a writer, I am an Astrology Gay."

Thank you so much to @sabookfest! This was one of the best book festivals I've ever attended and I'm so grateful to each and every one of the volunteers and authors for their time.

I had the wonderful privilege of attending @librarypalooza today with one of my professors and seeing @ayanagray_ kill it once again with these panels. I don't care how many times I get to see her speak, I always walk away with new knowledge and insight and I'm forever grateful to see her grow!

Meeting @nicolayoon and @davidoftheyoon were supreme highlights as they're authors I've been wanting to get into for the longest, so this opportunity was truly worth it (especially after seeing Nic Stone earlier this month already). They're incredible authors and I just know I'll enjoy Blackout and Frankly In Love so much!

This was my first ever Librarypalooza and I just know I'll come back next year! From the volunteers to the students themselves, this festival was deeply rooted in the community here in San Antonio and that's something that has truly made it standout! Everyone involved truly deserves a round of applause and I can't wait to see what they pull off next year. by @busybeingb01

Better Late Than Never? by @busybeingb01

I had the best weekend at @texasbookfest! Words can't describe how grateful I am to have had this experience. I don't remember a moment of this weekend where I didn't smile, laugh, joke, sing, scream, and shine!

From FINALLY meeting one of my favorite authors, @tracydeonn, to meeting some of the most brilliant minds in the country, @dr.penieljoseph and @imaniperry, to getting my last bit of spooky season with @stephengrahamjones, I have created some of the best core memories at this festival.

Thank you, Austin. by @busybeingb01

To the one they will always call their enemy, this one is for you.

I tend to get in a very reflective state near my birthday every year, but my 20s so far have had such a fire to them.

One of the most intriguing things I've had a professor say to me recently is, "You evoke fear from people, but I won't tell you why."
I loved his reluctancy because it beautifully contrasts the unfiltered nature people have come to expect from me. People lie daily, so a little honesty never hurt.

21 was the year I swam, I drowned, I floated, but most importantly, I survived. The depths of the ocean pale in comparison to the depths of my soul. I don't surrender to any of the elements, they will surrender to me. I am the descendant of generations of millions exposed to the elements, they must be so tired of attempting to breaking my people.

This was the year I believed that I could be, and should be, dangerous. My commitment to finding and nurturing the most raw and authentic version of me is what makes me dangerous. In a world full of artificial intelligence, can many really tell me honestly they don't have artificial souls too?

One more week until 22. One more year until I embark on a new chapter, one inevitably more violent than this current one. Fanon believed the violence of the oppressed is a unifying, cleansing force, so in an America that still believes in lynching Black boys, let's test that theory. by @busybeingb01

If your love and guidance were a song, it'd be this:

All of my bravery, integrity, courage, resilience, intelligence, compassion, and strength have always come from the both of you.
