POSTS STORIES REELS

We were Rolling through zigzags with eyes up and little bodies leaning in today. Watching these mini wheelers find their balance and believe in themselves never gets old. Super impressed with our littlest riders who have transitioned to pedals also 👏

For the past four to five years, I’ve had the joy of volunteering with these little riders every week @hinterlandbmx 💛Helping them take those first wobbly glides and find confidence and flow. It’s not just about bikes or skills, it’s about belonging, growing together and that pure little spark when a child realizes,‘I can do this’. Super cute photo of today’s crew!!

This is Luca. He is three years old and one of my balance bike stars.
Today he brought his pedal bike to the track for the very first time. Before this, he’d only ridden it a handful of times on flat ground.
Not only did he ride over the rollers with control and confidence, but he also jumped the ramp on his pedals for the first time.

This is exactly why I’m such a big believer in balance bikes. When children learn to balance first, they develop the most important skill in cycling before pedals are even introduced. Instead of focusing on balancing, steering, pedalling, and braking all at once, they can master each skill progressively.

By the time they move onto pedals, balance, body position, cornering, weight transfer, and bike control already feel natural. The pedals simply become another skill to add.
Watching Luca smoothly roll through the track features and confidently tackle the ramp is a great example of how effective that progression can be.
Balance first. Pedals second. Confidence for life. ✨👏🤩

I became part of the obstacle today 😂
But honestly this is how kids learn.
Control, space awareness, and quick decisions don’t come from perfection… they come from trying, missing, and going again.

🐝 Ready, set… SLOW! 🚲

Who can be the LAST to cross the finish line?

Practising balance, gentle braking and bike control, one slow race at a time!

Building skills. Growing confidence. Having fun! 💛 #bmx #bmxrace by @buzzlinez

Little wheels, growing self-belief. 💛🚲

Big skills start with little steps!

Yesterday we used our roller trainer, giving our littlest riders practise lifting their feet onto the footrests and learning to stand up on their bikes important building blocks on the journey to pedalling independently.

It’s about more than just riding a bike. It’s about developing balance, coordination, confidence and the courage to try something new.

Because every little step forward is a reason to feel proud. Oh and big shout out to Eddyn who after a few wobbles absolutely nailed his first session on his pedals on the track 👏🏻👏🏻🐝💛 #bmx #bmxrace #bmxkids by @buzzlinez
