The clients were inspired by the earthy, organic shapes and textures of the Mediterranean, and wanted to create a soft, warm and textured feel for their duplex project.

It was so fulfilling to see this project come to completion. We loved seeing all our Colour + Finish Selections come together. Wishing our clients all the very best in their new home 🏡🍾

Kitchen Details 〰️

We adored creating this fresh and pretty kitchen using golds, creams, white and powder blue 💎 I love the classic cream-and-gold-veined Quartzite, it feels so luxurious and elegant, we paired it with the powder blue and clean white cabinetry to keep it fresh and coastal and not too formal. This is a holiday unit after all 😊

Thankyou @homebeautiful for featuring our Mooloolaba Penthouse Project in your January issue.

It’s such a special honour for me, I’ve been a fan of the magazine for many years, poring over the pages each month and drinking in all the delicious details. You will always find the latest issue in my beach bag, ready for when I get a chance for some beach time 🏖️😎

Our Penthouse Project ‘Bella La Vista’ was a special one for Coco Interiors where we built a wonderful relationship with our clients and created a magical holiday apartment for their family, the very same penthouse apartment they had been visiting and holidaying in with their four boys growing up.

You can read the full story by grabbing a copy this month 💕

Thankyou for capturing our project so beautifully Louise @villastyling 🩵💕

And a special thanks to our valued trades and suppliers for helping make this apartment so fabulous, some who are featured in these photographs:

Not long to go now! Our Penthouse kitchen is just waiting on a few finishing touches including the hero fretwork glass shelving which will be the cherry on top 🍒

Can’t wait to see it all come together 🩵💙⚓️

A close up of some of the gorgeous textures and tones of our Mooloolaba project ‘Coast’

We really wanted to create a textural, natural base to create an elevated resort vibe. Rattan, brushed limestone, champagne finishes and slubby textured grasscloth creates a warm, inviting and elevated base.

We can’t wait to bring this to life 🌴

I have never understood the saying “Blue and green should never be seen”. Here in Mooloolaba, we are surrounded by blue and green - this lush pairing dominates the landscape with the sea, the sky, and the coastal fringe of pandanus trees. 🌲 🌴

Pulling a colour from the landscape is such a simple yet effective way to link the indoors to the outdoors.

A little glance of the gorgeous selections we’ve put together for our Mooloolaba project ‘Coast’

#sunshinecoastinteriors #sunshinecoastinteriordesigner #sunshinecoastrenovation #mooloolabarenovation

Warm neutrals, sunbleached tones and organic textures tie this holiday home to long beach days at Mooloolaba.

The Kitchen features a custom seafoam island bench, champagne @meiraustralia tapware (which is not quite brushed nickle but also not brassy- more of a subtle pink) beaded dome pendant lights that cast the most amazing shadows at night, and limestone flooring. We’ve also maximised the available storage, in an apartment every inch is imperative! @creocabinets

The living area has the PERFECT wall at the rear for a fabulous little bar, this holiday apartment will certainly be well stocked with the bubbles and beer. We are doing the gorgeous textured raffia wallpaper splashback and rattan insert custom cabinetry. An electric fireplace on the opposite side of this room provides ambience and balance. We will complete the room with serene, coastal-inspired furniture and styling.

Look at that texture 😍 You just can’t beat the texture of natural fibres, here raffia and papyrus form a chunky, large-scale weave that reminds us of the Spinifex grasses found on the sand dunes. @boyac

We were free to do something a bit different in the Powder room, so naturally we chose pink 🩷 for a pretty contrast against the coastal seafoams and warm neutrals. This Spring-inspired, botanical ‘Bloom’ wallpaper is filled with leaves, flowers and birds and organic shapes for a real wow moment for visitors.
Other special mentions are the fabulous Chinoiserie mirror, glazed wall sconce and concrete basin. @thibaut_1886 @robertgordoninteriors @abiinteriors

The wallpaper, the pink, the rattan, the stone 🩷

Naturals and neutrals 🍂🐚🦪

We are doing VJ walls in the bathrooms to cut down cost, floor to ceiling tiling is great and a high-end finish but sometimes a bit of contrast and layering is just as nice. The duck-egg tiles have the right amount of grey in them to subtly recede.
I love the classic, nautical-inspired mirrors, to me they reference the Mooloolaba wharf 🎣

The Heart of the Home 💛

The kitchen and dining zone is always my favourite to design. These are the spaces we gather, connect, host and share. The goal is always to create a functional and streamlined yet intimate and welcoming zone that suits its owners perfectly.

Plus of course it has to be aesthetic and the jewel of the home. And a strong connection to outdoors, a garden, deck or just simply flooded with natural light.

I still love this kitchen looking straight at Happy Valley, my favourite little feature is the bench seat under the window. And of course those designer pendant lights @shopkwearstler

I initially showed this client some gorgeous Carrara marble mosaics as an option for her vanity wall- she said she’s seen Carrara at the Plaza bathrooms 🤯😆 Gasp!! I said well we certainly can’t have that!!! Instead we got this dolomite marble custom cut into two formats and laid it double herringbone pattern for a custom, luxury feel. It was of course dearer but the result is so worth it. The fluted two pack and the gold tapware help elevate the white-on-white scheme further.

Still one of my favourite bathrooms to date 💛

〰️ The tiles are down (well, mostly!) at our Penthouse Project Tides. I wanted something really timeless and classic for the floors, as the style of our Penthouse is quite traditional and stately.

These gorgeous tiles from @perinitiles are from their Pompeii range, borrowing inspiration from the marble frescoes and patterns of ancient Roman architecture.

These tiles really pull out the subtle warm tones of the Chiaro marble tile from @verona.stone.qld It’s so nice to contrast the simplicity of the wall tile with a beautiful pattern and provide some interest 💛

Really looking forward to seeing the cabinetry go in to offset our beautiful base 💛

Question #1: Will this date?
The short answer is Yes. Everything that is currently ‘in’ Will date. However, if the colour combination is timeless, the materials are high quality, or you just really love that green marble/ taj mahal, then go for it. If you love it, it doesn’t matter if it dates. Good design, classic combinations and good quality is always in style 👌

Question 2: Do I have to match all of my finishes?
I think a mix of metallic finishes looks more natural, and less ‘Display Home’ to be honest. The key is to pair two (three maximum) finishes in complementary tones- eg matt black + bronze, brushed brass + polished nickle, brushed nickle + Matt white. This combination becomes part of the overall story you are telling.

Question 3: Which white paint should I use?
Ah the good old white paint dilemma. My top picks are Natural White, Snowy Mountains Quarter, Casper White Quarter, Lexicon Quarter (all @duluxaus ) and Popcorn by @porterspaints The key is to pair the right paint tones with the natural light in your home.

Question 4: I’m not sure what my design style is or what’s it called
That’s ok- most of us know WHAT we like but not what it’s called or which ‘design category’ it falls into. Don’t stress, this is still a great starting point and we can go from there! In my opinion, the most interesting interiors always have several style influences throughout 💛

Let me know if you have any other questions! Xo

Celebrating the Winter Solstice by sharing some shots that have caught my eye on Pinterest of lush shady trees, pink bougainvillea and divine tropical homes in Palm Beach, FL

The garden and landscape should always influence your interiors and play a role in your decorating. Creating a cohesive indoor-outdoor flow and visual connection to your gardens will enhance your home and feeling of wellbeing, space and connection to nature.

We are only going to get longer, warmer days from here on in - cheers 🥂 😎
