@zwart’s 1969 Porsche 911 “East Africa Safari” left for a little field trip, but we’re so glad it’s back! We just love it when a car drives right in, and straight to its spot in the Museum! You can check it out in “Jeff Zwart: Life at ZwartSpeed” in the Vault, presented by @hagerty #onlyatthepetersen by @petersenmuseum

Prestigious, dramatic, and built for the Autobahn! Speeding out from 1938 with 180 horsepower and a top speed of 110mph, Mercedes-Bens launched the 540 K Autobahnkurier as the fastest standard production car to its date at the 1936 Berlin Auto show. This is the only surviving model of just two 540 K chassis, and just one of the four models fitted with Autobahnkurier coachwork. Head to the Petersen for “World-Class: 100 Years of Mercedes-Benz”, supported by @sonaxusa and @rmsothebys, to see why its best-in-show worthy #onlyatthepetersen by @petersenmuseum

Brian O’Conner’s Nissan GT-R from Furious 7 delivered supercar performance in one of the film’s wildest chase scenes. Built with custom exhausts, carbon-fiber accents, and a hydraulic suspension system capable of sliding beneath a semi-truck, the GT-R perfectly reflected Brian’s evolution from street racer to elite driver. Now on display in A Fast & Furious Legacy: 25 Years of Automotive Icons. #onlyatthepetersen @thefastsaga by @petersenmuseum
A closer look inside and under the hood of the 1951 Delahaye Type 235 Cabriolet by Saoutchik! There’s really nothing like seeing all the cool details of these cars in the studio cove lighting — should we make more of this style? Let us know! #onlyatthepetersen by @petersenmuseum
260 built. 425 horsepower. One Cobra that helped define American performance. The 1967 AC/Shelby Cobra 427 paired British engineering with a 7.0-liter V8, delivering a reported top speed of 165 mph. With its widened body and thunderous big-block engine, the 427 became one of the most legendary sports cars of its era. See it in "World's Fastest", supported by @wynnlasvegas #onlyatthepetersen by @petersenmuseum
The @petersenmuseum’s 4x4 Rally to SEMA started with 27 rigs outside Palm Springs and one goal: get to Las Vegas the hardest way possible. Supported by @optimabatteries and @clariosglobal, last year’s second annual 4x4 Rally to SEMA by @petersenmuseum built on a new tradition of taking real off-road rigs to the industry event through a two-day route from the Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage area to Las Vegas. The lineup looked like an off-road convention: lifted Wranglers and 4Runners, a brand-new Lexus GX still smelling of dealership leather, a steel-wheeled Defender, and, stealing every glance, the Petersen’s own Ford F-150 Prerunner, a sand-devouring missile a guest nicknamed The Bazooka. As pavement turned to dirt on day one, loose gravel shifted under tires, soft sand demanded momentum, and technical climbs required patience, throttle control, and trust in the spotters. By nightfall, the group reached AutoCamp Joshua Tree before dinner at the Snake Bite Roadhouse, where someone took home “The Velociraptor Escape Vehicle” award. Day two brought the pack through deep sand, tight canyon sections, and into Goffs Schoolhouse, a living museum restored by the Mojave Desert Heritage & Cultural Association. From there, the convoy passed the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System, watched civilization reappear on the horizon, and continued into Vegas and on to SEMA. The next day at the show, it was easy to spot the rally crew. They were the ones eyeing the display trucks and whispering, “Could it actually make it?” The Petersen 4x4 Rally didn’t take the easy way to Las Vegas, and that’s exactly the point. Highways get you there, but trails remind you why you went. Avants writer @d9nnyp gives his full account in Issue 24 of Avants Magazine.
