A short story. by @c_e.santana
Today is my 41st birthday. I made some songs this past year. A mid life crisis of sorts. Link to SoundCloud in my bio. After a pro mix and master, maybe I’ll drop it on streamers. I made this — producing, recording, mixing and mastering — on my twelve year old MacBook Air I share with my kid and which overloaded every ten seconds. It’s far from perfect but this is something I’ve wanted to do for damn near two decades but always let my fears and insecurities talk me out of it. Then one day, you wake up, you’re forty, and life is passing you by. by @c_e.santana
I’m back with a new short novel: Operation Boom. Link in bio. Operation Boom is a paranoid, often darkly humorous sci-fi thriller about control, conspiracy, and the cost of being disposable. Salvador Zapata has nothing left to lose. So when a rising tech company offers him easy money to join a groundbreaking wellness program, he signs up, agreeing to spend one year sealed in a chamber in the name of human optimization. One year turns into four. When Sal finally wakes, the world he knew is gone. Los Angeles is cleaner, more orderly. Crime, poverty, and dissent have all but vanished. What was once considered chaos has been replaced by calm, but only because anyone labeled undesirable has been removed off the streets, sent into wellness hibernation.  Beneath the utopian surface, something feels off. Haunted by vivid, near-hallucinatory dreams and flashes of violence he doesn’t understand, Sal begins to suspect the trial was never about wellness at all. by @c_e.santana

The video I conceptualized, produced and co-directed with @somoscanido for @cozyenalta is out now. This is the debut single for Cozy, an extremely talented artist out of Caracas, Venezuela. Thank you @dvlp and @sirchiky for the opportunity to try to make something dope. My main source of inspiration came from my Tumblr days. I used to spend hours on Tumblr looking at images. I loved the stills from anime television and film. My goal was to create shots my 23 year old self would’ve re-blogged on Tumblr. Link in bio. by @c_e.santana
Last year, I wrote this short film, an experimental “stand-up special,” with the intentions of filming it. Well, I slacked on that. And then corona hit. And The Factory where it’s set is gone (RIP to an era). And, as you know, lots of stuff has happened. You can still read it if you want, link in bio. Some of the topics I discuss: the simulation, why I use C.E. Santana as my writing name, meth, long commutes, Los Angeles, conspiracy theories, terrible Hollywood pitches, the gig economy, how to stock a bomb shelter if you only eat organic and it’s expensive, white men with guns, some thoughts on the resistance and protesting that didn’t age well, madness, and crazy Uber drivers. by @c_e.santana
We love you @ashleycatuzzi ❤️ Happy Mother’s Day to all the supermoms in our lives 💐 by @c_e.santana
Another story of mine that’s sort of relevant now. In “One Night Only,” The Hikikomoris, the biggest band streaming on the internet, prepare for their final show. Link in bio. by @c_e.santana
Eight years ago I wrote a short story about a couple trying to keep their sanity during quarantine. @az.nyc made a film out of it. Moral of the story in 2020: choose your partner as someone you wouldn’t mind being quarantined with lol. Link in bio. by @c_e.santana
