POSTS STORIES REELS

After a few weeks of health issues during races, I ran 15:29 at this weekend’s race:

Thanks to many thoughts, prayers, and professionals, I had my return to form at this weekend’s Regional round in Jacksonville, Illinois (10/24/26).

Although, this is the reason I originally decided to make this post, it isn’t really important to the grand scheme of things. I want one important thing to be taken away from all of this: metro-east culture runs deep and strong. My recent experiences have shown me that athletes here are bred in sportsmanship and perseverance, and I want to express gratitude for the type of people that surround me.

A week before, I went down about 100 meters before the finish line, my second time experiencing this in a race this season. Despite this being the last conference championship of his high school career, @landon.3410 sacrificed his time to help me, an opponent, cross the finish line (10/14/26). This is a choice that took character and guts. It is a testament to what it means to be an athlete in the metro-east. Other runners I am close with that have fought through issues despite pain and injury are @ccc.cummins , @danielgutizz , and Logan Kearbey. All four of these guys have suffered from some sort of injury this season, and not only have they continued to fight on, but they have displayed great character by showing me kindness and concern through my struggles. Even after finishing their regional races (in different locations), these guys checked in on me online, hoping the same thing didn’t happen again this week. @28knoblochcaleb and @joshua_knobloch18 have been having great seasons of their own, but they have always made sure to stop and check-in on me as well. I will always be grateful for the close pact that we have in metro-east cross country.

Competitors, Friends, Teammates⚡️

@riverbendernews recently published an article about the 618 Squad: a combination of competitors and friends from different schools in the Madison County area. The article goes over our success during the Detweiler at Dark race this summer, as well as our representation of the area via the competition.
