Last year of my 30s….! Wow. 💓

My heart is more open than ever before to all of life’s possibilities, not just what feels safe. I’m standing firmer in what I know to be true and putting my energy where there is value.

I love my family 🥹 so very much. I want my boys to always know their mom tried her best to make their lives as full as possible. But I also want them to see me take risks and dare a little more, so there’s a new goal ◡̈

What has become abundantly clear is that I have so many beautiful people rooting for me, sharing love with me across lots of distance, and genuinely caring for me. And on top of all of that, I have God’s endless love, too.

My weekend was spent with childhood friends, neighbors turned friends, and lovely people I’ve connected with along the way, and I’m just very grateful.

This has become my favorite explanation of true joy.
Today is my Mom’s 6th heavenly anniversary, and instead of explaining who she was, her words tell you just that.
She had a way of making the deepest truths feel simple. Even in the midst of cancer, pain, and uncertainty, she lived what she taught. She often said it was a “win-win”whether she stayed here with us a little longer or met her Heavenly Father face to face. That kind of peace can only come from knowing Jesus.
As I’ve grown in my own faith, I find myself coming back to this video more and more. Her words have taken on an even deeper meaning, and I’m so grateful I have them to return to.
People often say time makes it easier. Oh do I disagree. The weight of her absence has become more defined as life continues to unfold without her. I miss her every single day. Thank you for being the greatest Mom I could’ve ever dreamed of having ❤️ by @plottwistlindsayb

these sweet babies ❤️❤️! What’s better than cousin love?! Getting to have Theo and Drue here without their mamas allowed us that special 1:1 time that’s so rare when you’re wrangling kids of your own! So many funny stories, hilarious things said, sweet memories made, and lots of cousin fun! I’m sleepy for SURE, but I would and will have them here in KC with us again and again! Happy Birthday to Jan (Mayme)❤️!!

Where there’s Jan, there’s always a big smile, laughter, levity, and a fun time to be had. I’m blessed to say I married into her great company. Then there’s Mayme, the Grandma who never watches from the sidelines. She’s going down the slides, riding the rides, through the mazes, and anything else the boys dream up - she’s right there with them. And has likely purchased the thing that gets them riled up 😂. Mayme always shows up right on time with a heart full of love and pockets full of gummy bears for the boys. If those pockets are empty, the boys make sure to tell her alllll about it!

She is adored by us all and we thank her for her love, support, and encouragement through the years. We love you so much, Jan!!!! Happy Birthday! by @plottwistlindsayb

Juju asked for a beach, so a Kansas City beach he got ❤️🏖️! The chances of it getting rained out were high, but the sun came on out and we were able to celebrate the way he wanted! Still can’t believe my baby is, 6 🥹. His list of beautiful qualities are endless and I’m just so proud and blessed to be Juju’s mama ❤️ by @plottwistlindsayb

6 years ago, my sweet Julien was born! A trifecta of events had me texting my family during my entire delivery. A mix of first pregnancy, a global pandemic, and my Mom being so sick.

It was lonely and these text messages truly got me through and they became the “waiting room” I couldn’t have.

Every contraction update. Every centimeter. Every prayer. Every excited message asking, “Any baby yet?”

Looking back, these screenshots capture so much more than my labor. They capture my family loving a little boy before he was even here.

Today, they feel like one of the sweetest gifts I have from that hard time. I’m so blessed he’s so well loved and my Mom’s encouragement was most present.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom ❤️. For a long time, this day only felt heavy. But this year, I’m finally allowing myself to celebrate the mother I am because of you. I miss you terribly, while also feeling deeply grateful for every part of you I now carry into my own motherhood. Grief and gratitude really can exist together in balance and I’m still learning to accept that. You were and will always be the greatest Mom I could’ve ever dreamed of having ❤️ by @plottwistlindsayb
