I’ve lost 170 pounds. The man I was before vs. the man I became while training for and completing an ultramarathon are very different people. For the better. My son turns 2 this week 🥹 Which marks 2 years of one simple goal: No more fast food burgers. That change lead to a year where I ran over 1200 miles. I chose to LIVE for my family. And I hope I make them proud 💙💛

This year I’ve run: 3 5ks, 2 10ks, a 10 mile trail race, 2 Half marathons, a marathon, a 25k trail race, a 50k, and a 50 mile Ultramarathon. Every one of these races my wife has been there with the kids in tow cheering louder than anyone. How I do all of this has been asked a lot, and the answer is: HER. She’s how. She is my Ultra-wife, Ultra-Partner and the best thing in my life. 🥰

Tomorrow I take on my first 100-mile ultramarathon.

100 miles. On foot. In one go.

Months of training, early mornings, long runs, and a whole lot of preparation have led to this.

Am I nervous? Absolutely. Am I excited? You bet.

I have no idea what these next 100 miles will throw at me, but I’m ready to find out.

I’ll be sharing updates here every few hours throughout the race, so follow along for the highs, lows, and everything in between.

Let’s see what 100 miles looks like. 🏃‍♂️

Do you do this? I’m gearing up for my 100 mile ultra marathon in 3 days and I swear I’m checking my list every hour! I mean, I’m afraid come race night I won’t even sleep because I’m going to be worried I forgot my chapstick?! 😂

100 mile ultramarathon is just 5 days away! I can’t express all the thoughts and emotions I had on today’s run. I trained hard, ran the hills, walked the walks, and now it’s almost time to show up.

In 7 days I toe the line of my first ever 100 mile ultramarathon. I am excited, nervous, and scared all at the same time. One thing I know for certain, it’ll all get left out on the trails next Saturday.

You’re never too old to play in the rain.

Even if your “play” is running 5 miles while training for a 100 mile ultra marathon.

Under 30 days until I toe the line and work towards an insane goal. 🙌

16 miles of finding out my lungs were absolutely not consulted about this trip. 😂⛰️

But we powered through.

Little end-of-week reminder: you don’t have to feel ready, fast, or comfortable to keep moving forward. Sometimes finishing the week strong just means refusing to quit.

Keep showing up. The hard stuff adds up. 🤝

So my son definitely watches me run trails. Went for a .25 mile trail run with my toddlers and that’s how it goes 😂

Training for the races that matter most. 😂❤️

Turns out my toughest competition lives in my house.
