This piece is heading off to The Big Tiny Show at the District Gallery in Knoxville, Tn. The opening is Nov 13th from 5 to 8 pm. It looks to be a fun show and I hope to see you there.

Do any of my fellow Tennesseans recognize this spot? It's titled Mitchell Bottoms. I have passed this sign many times in my life and I love the way it looks when the sun hits it just right. I used to love RC too and apparently it's still made though not widely distributed.

The painting measures 5"x 5" but with the frame, it's 7.5" x 7.5". I did a lot of fun things with the framing for this one. Since it's so small, I wanted to echo the leafy feel with the frame and I thought this evergreen color worked well for the painting. If you scroll through the photos, you can see some process of me putting it all together. I used Qor watercolor on Ampersand Aquabord

A recent commission: I loved painting this young artist as she worked on her manga drawings. There was something wonderfully meta about painting her drawing.

This is the third time I’ve had the pleasure of painting her, and it’s been such a gift to help document her as she grows.

I become so attached to my subjects while painting their portraits, and this was one I found especially difficult to see leave my studio.

I also had the pleasure of framing this piece myself. Swipe through to see the finished painting in its floater frame, all ready for its new home. ❤️

With the holiday season approaching, I have a few commission spots available for those interested in preserving a special person, beloved pet, or meaningful place in a one-of-a-kind portrait. If you’ve been considering a commissioned painting, I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to send me a message to discuss your ideas.

Studebaker was one of my favorite commissions last year. He was a dearly loved companion and loyal friend, and I feel honored to have had the opportunity to capture a little of the love and spirit he brought to his family.

I loved painting this piece for my collector, and I hope it serves as a meaningful reminder of the very special and sweet boy that he was.

This piece is 11" x 14" and was created on Ampersand Claybord using Qor Watercolor paint.

"Pattycake"

This little beauty is my cousin’s daughter. Her dad took this photo, and I loved it because it captures such a playful moment in her mother’s arms. She looks so happy here, and I hope that all of the love that surrounds her will continue to help her flourish.

The painting measures 12" x 16" and is done using Qor watercolor on Ampersand Claybord.

I am a member of Ali Cavanaugh’s watercolor community. Ali is an amazing painter and mentor. Every year, we do a Secret Santa painting for another member of the group. I didn’t participate last year and really regretted it! This year I got to paint Gina Hawes son! It was really fun to paint his plaid shirt, his beautiful eyes and mouth! Really looking forward to seeing all of the amazing paintings today. If you’re looking for inspiration, come join us! by @candanceparton

My beautiful niece Sydney in the golden hour! by @candanceparton

Beautiful Sydney! It was a fun challenge capturing her slight glance to the side. Her eyes and mouth had to be just right to create the illusion. by @candanceparton
