I’ve been thinking about the passing of Dolly Parton and Gloria Steinem.

Two very different women. Two extraordinary lives.

I think about all they saw in their lifetimes. All they challenged. All they fought for. All they accomplished. And all the people who believed because they had the courage to use their voices, their platforms and their lives to make a difference.

And I keep coming back to this:

What is our responsibility when the people who helped move the world forward are no longer here to do it themselves?

For those of us who believed in their work, supported it, benefited from it or were simply inspired by it, our responsibility cannot end with remembering them.

We have to make sure their life’s work is documented.
That it is taught.
That it is not rewritten or erased.

But even that is not enough.
We have to keep making progress.

Perhaps that is one of the greatest ways we can honor those who came before us—not simply by celebrating what they accomplished, but by protecting what they fought for and carrying the work forward.

They did their part. Now it is our responsibility. by @candicastleberry

Today was international day of friendship!

I’m thankful for the friends who have celebrated life’s biggest milestones with me, and for those who have simply shared everyday moments filled with laughter, encouragement, and joy. Every friendship has shaped me in some way.

I’ve always believed in making a new friend. We grow by spending time with people who are like us—and with people who are different from us. Every conversation has the potential to broaden our perspective, deepen our understanding, and remind us of our shared humanity.

As this day comes to a close, I’m reminded of just how fortunate I am—to be called a friend; to have friends who have become family; family who are also my friends; coworkers who have become lifelong friends throughout my career; and sorority sisters who have known me since my earliest days and have walked beside me through so many chapters of life.

To everyone who has been part of my journey—whether for a season or for decades—thank you for your friendship, your encouragement, your honesty, and your joy. You have made my life richer in ways words cannot fully express.

Friendship is one of life’s greatest gifts. Here’s to making new friends, cherishing old ones, and never underestimating the power of the people who choose to walk through life with us.

#NFLDraft week in Pittsburgh did not disappoint.

An awesome time was had — from celebrations at the Mel Blount roast of @charliebatch16, to a milestone birthday for Soror @Luanna, a kickoff at the #ChildrensMuseum, opening of the #NFLDraft, and a plenty of activities + running around catching up with 🖤💛 friends.

Pittsburgh showed up beautifully.
