✨ What is PMU?

PMU is a cosmetic process where specialist pigment is implanted into the upper layers of the skin using a fine needle.

It’s semi-permanent because your body naturally breaks down and fades the pigment over time.

During healing, some pigment is shed as the skin repairs itself, so your brows/lips may look darker at first before softening into their healed result 🤍

As the pigment gradually fades, top-ups are needed to refresh the colour and definition. How often you need one depends on your skin, lifestyle and skincare routine.

The goal? A beautiful, natural result that evolves with you — not a permanent, unchanging tattoo. ✨ by @carajohnson_pmu

✨ THE FACE BEHIND THE BUSINESS ✨

Hi, I’m Cara, I’m 36, a wife, mum to two beautiful girls, and the face behind this little dream of mine 🤍

By day (and sometimes by night!), I’m a Registered Nurse 👩🏻‍⚕️but alongside nursing I’ve been building something that I’ve always dreamed of — becoming a PMU Artist.

I’m trained in Hyperrealism & Ombré Brows, with Lip blush coming soon 👄✨ (October!! watch this space)

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me enjoying an iced coffee ☕️🧊, indulging in a little self-care, or spending quality time with my family 🤍

I started this journey because I’ve always wanted to help people feel confident, comfortable and beautiful in their own skin.

I truly believe semi-permanent makeup should enhance what you already have, whether you’re looking for something subtle, soft & natural, or a little more definition. Every set of brows is completely personalised to you, your features and the look you want to achieve.

I’m so excited to grow this little business, meet so many amazing people along the way, and help you feel like the best version of yourself ✨

Thank you for being here and supporting me — I genuinely can’t wait to take you all along for the journey! 🤎

$✨ Ombré Lip blush From naturally pale lips to a beautiful, defined rosy tone — lip blush enhances your natural lip colour, improves definition and creates a gorgeous finish. Whether you love a soft, sheer tint or a bolder, more defined look, your treatment is tailored to you and your desired result. ✨ Enhanced natural colour ✨ Improved lip definition ✨ help balance lip symmetry ✨ A beautiful wash of colour ✨ Wake up feeling effortlessly polished Remember, lip blush is a process! Your colour will soften as your lips heal, and a 6–8 week top-up helps build colour retention and achieve your desired result. 📍 Pontefract based 💌 DM to enquire or book your appointment. $✨ A special set of brows 🤎 I don’t usually work over previous PMU pigment unless it’s very faded, but this one was a little different… because it’s my mum! 🤍 Using careful brow mapping and a pre-draw, we created a more balanced shape to frame the face, combining delicate hair strokes with soft ombré shading to create a beautiful combination brow. Now we wait for the healing process to reveal the final result! I can’t wait to see how these heal. 🤎 #combinationbrow #pmubrow #browtransformation #semipermanentmakeup #pontefract by @carajohnson_pmu$

$✨ Hyperrealism Brows ✨ Every skin is different, which means pigment retention and healed results will vary from person to person. Factors such as skin type, oiliness, lifestyle, skincare and how your skin heals can all influence how the pigment settles and retains. After the first session, the brows heal softer and lighter as the skin settles and the pigment naturally fades. The 6–8 week top-up allows us to assess colour retention, add back any pigment that has faded or healed patchy and refine the shape and definition where needed. 🤎 #pmubrow #hanafy_pigments #semipermanentmakeup #hyperrealism #pontefract by @carajohnson_pmu$

✨ Why the 6–8 Week Top-Up Matters

This client’s healed results show exactly why we don’t try to perfect everything in one session. 🤎

After the first session, the hair strokes at the fronts held beautifully, while the ombré shading through the tails had faded considerably — which is completely normal as the brows heal and the skin settles.

At the top-up, we can assess how your skin has retained the pigment, build back areas that need more depth, and make adjustments where needed. For this client, I slightly adapted the pigment and tone to help support better retention.

I would always rather start lighter and build gradually than over-saturate the brows at the first appointment. This creates a softer, more natural result that can heal and fade naturally over time, rather than leaving brows looking harsh or blocky.

First session → heal → assess → refine → top-up 🤎

PMU really is a process, and the healed result is the goal — not what they look like immediately after treatment. ✨ by @carajohnson_pmu

$✨ PMU IS A PROCESS — NOT A ONE-SESSION RESULT ✨ Healed after the first session ➡️ immediately after the top-up 🤎 This is why the top-up is such an important part of the PMU journey. Once the brows have fully healed, we can see exactly how the pigment has settled, where it may have softened and what needs to be refreshed or enhanced. The first session creates the foundation. The top-up perfects it. ✨ Brows will soften and settle further as they heal, leaving a more natural, beautiful finish — and with each stage, we’re working towards your long-lasting healed result. Trust the process. Trust the healing. Trust the top-up. 🤎 #pmubrow #nanobrow #topup #pmuprocess #pontefract by @carajohnson_pmu$

$Healed PMU results before the 6–8 week perfecting session✨ Brows have softened beautifully and settled naturally. The top-up appointment will refresh the colour, enhance definition, and improve pigment retention for longer-lasting results. Every skin type heals differently, which is why this second session is so important for achieving the best final outcome. 🤎 #pmubrow #hyperrealism #fluffybrows #pontefract #spmu by @carajohnson_pmu$

$Hyperrealism ✨ Another hyperrealism model…creating brows so natural, detailed and dimensional - they look like real hair, not makeup. 🤎 Hyperrealistic strokes. Seamless texture. $✨ The art of undetectable enhancement ✨ Hyperrealism PMU uses delicate, hair-like strokes to restore shape, fullness, and symmetry—because the best brows don’t look tattooed, they look naturally yours 🤎 Excited to see how these heal… keep an eye out for the updates on the healed results. #Hyperrealism #pmubrows #nanobrows #pontefract #cosmetictattoo by @carajohnson_pmu$
