I always learn something from participating in TTT @secondstreetgallery. It forces me to make a series of consistent work. This never happens on the first try, so new ideas are generated. The small scale allows me to take risks. For these, I also had to paint over paintings, once I ran out of blank panels which led to a new discovery of combining scratched lines with the pulls of paint. Necessity leads to invention. My work is partially digitally inspired, but created physically with all analog means. I am very happy with these! Looking forward to the events this month, see you soon!!

Update: all three sold, thank you so much! 💛💙💗
I learned looking at the show in person, that the finishing top coat or varnish is really important under the gallery lights. I am going to think about that more in the future. by @carolbarberart

Excited about these directions just wish I had more of them for application season. Which one is your favorite? by @carolbarberart

An unexpected result of painting watery paint on textured ground gave me two paintings I love 💕 by @carolbarberart

Wow, NY state really put on a show for us! The leaves were perfect! Saw Watkins Glen, Taughnnock Falls, Seneca Lake, Cornell Bird Lab and Corning Museum of Glass. Couldn’t stop taking pictures 🍁 by @carolbarberart

Zooming in close on this one lately, for color combination inspiration. One painting leads to another. by @carolbarberart

Feels like time stood still for a while at Avon, NC. So glad we could swim a couple of the days and be fully emerged with the ocean. Kayaking on the sound at sunset put us in the flow. Seeing a friend after 25 years added to the time warp feeling. Hard to awaken from the dream. by @carolbarberart

Painted this yesterday and I am excited about it! It is kind of like a Bernard Frize, but the media led me here, not looking at anyone else. Also I set out to do some new gesture paintings but they started falling flat. So I am happy to explore transparency and color. One of my main objectives. I need to research the best way to photograph subtle color shifts. One of my favorite things and this iPhone is just not capturing it! by @carolbarberart

The dark brown and orange painting was the first stage, the light beige was the next phase and the light green is the final stage. I am not sure how I got to the final stage which is a strange feeling. Was I zoned out for a long time, how long? I have no idea but I really love this painting. I do remember putting on the finishing touches which was really enjoyable! #painting #carolbarberart #contemporaryart #process by @carolbarberart

At the “writing your artist statement” class last night @secondstreetgallery I was reminded that not knowing my end results was important to me. This was a surprise side painting I made today, while working towards a new series of paintings. I didn’t plan on making it, but it was very satisfying. The statement class was great, I recommend it even if you have an established statement. Always enlightening to reevaluate what you are doing. Thank you @stevehaske for your insights, extremely helpful!

The lines for the painting were made in part by pressing through paper. I will repost the video of me doing that process. by @carolbarberart

“Quattro con valigie in ascensore, non c’è problema.”

2025 was a wild ride full of life, big lows, and big highs. Family is my most precious asset, nature is my calming companion, and an art practice is my greatest teacher. Notable experiences were my very first art residency at VCCA, my first hike in the Dolomites, Italy, and my first charitable donation through my art business to CARE. Thank you for your purchases that made that possible! Want to put all of those things on repeat in 2026 and beyond! I was encouraged that my 10k time in the Fall greatly improved. Connecting with my art supporters in person was a favorite moment, and the year ended with shipping my largest painting to a collector to date. I wish you all a happy and healthy New Year. Let’s keep building and making life better together! Love to you and hope to see you soon. Thanks for being here! by @carolbarberart
