9:58:23 PM Instead of some catchy title, I'm going with the time, down to the second, because last night was abso-freaking-lutely incredible. This is just one of 900+ photos that I took last night. I told @eringrimley that I shouldn't be too long when I left around 9...I got home around 1:15 AM. 🙃 As I was driving up over Trappers Loop I pulled off the road to take a test photo to see if they were visible and I could see some faint green even though the sky wasn't totally dark just yet. I checked a website to see how the KP (magnitude) was doing and it said it was dropping from a 7 to a 3, which is not good for us I'm Utah, and I almost thought about just going home. I sent a message @hayleyshorizons and she said the app she was using didn't show a drop, so I decided to press on and give it a go, and a go I gave it. I pulled up to the location and could see aurora spiking with my bare eyes. I frantically grabbed my camera and tripod and set it up to shoot video on the side of the road while I grabbed a second camera to get photos of this barn. I didn't even have time or the mind to grab a headlamp so I could navigate the muddy, wet, pasture, which is private property so don't trespass! I have permission from the property owner to go on the property, thanks @tahlya.kae.mckay! (Please don't message her to ask for permission, you can get great photos from the road) YES! Prints will be available for purchase. Give me a few days as I'm traveling for work this week. Send me a message if you're interested in prints. #auroraborealis #visitogden #thisisogden #sonyalpha by @caseygrimley
Throwback Thursday to running out in the street too get this shot. It's amazing I didn't get hit with how crazy Utah drivers are. 😁 Sony A7RIII + 70-200 f/4 . . . #thisisogden #ogdenutah #ogdenisawesome #onlyinogden #sonyalpha #throwbackthursday #dontplayinthestreet #benlomond #bestofogden by @caseygrimley

Lakes and pointy mountains are one of the few things I'll get up at 4:00AM on a Saturday. by @caseygrimley
I took my camera hiking and everyone passing me asked if I got any good photos. I mean, I guess so. You be the judge. by @caseygrimley
Been a minute since I've gone for a trail run. by @caseygrimley
I typed out a caption but apparently it didn't get posted, so here's the story of this photo. 11 years ago I hiked up to Table Mountain to get a photo of the milky way over the Tetons. As time has gone on, and my skills and gear have become better, I've wanted to get back to this location and recreate the photo. I invited some young coworkers to join me so (because honestly most people my age aren't down for 4,000 vertical feet hikes in snow). Well, just because Utah had a low snow year doesn't mean the Tetons did. There was snow about 3 miles in and 3.5 miles to go to the peak. The snow was soft and slowed us down quite a bit. We got to the top much later than expected and the cold wind had turned the snow to ice and the shot I wanted required a short downhill hike. I took one step on the snow and said, "Nope. Not worth sliding down this mountain." So we decided to head down. After hiking down for 10 minutes or so I decided to stop and try for a pano. We could see the airglow with our eyes, and having seen the northern lights the night before I was hopeful they were active again on this night. Nope, just some very intense airglow. The rest of the hike down was an absolute knee crusher and we were all extremely exhausted. The hike was supposed to be about 6 hours, ended up being 10. But nobody died and we all agreed it was epic. @nathanael_gorelik @payton.culp45 @zech_ziegler by @caseygrimley
A few clips from this last weekend in the Tetons and Yellowstone with some co-workers. I love showing people around a couple of my favorite national parks. by @caseygrimley
That's my daughter, who somehow is turning 18 today and graduates high school on Thursday. Happy Birthday Peanut! @peyton_pnut by @caseygrimley
I'm definitely a mountain guy but something about the ocean in the morning. The humid breeze, sound of birds and waves crashing chaotically yet harmoniously, the smell of the salt and sand. I could spend more time here. by @caseygrimley
