Our 2025-2026 ceramic internship is coming to a close, and it’s time to celebrate one of the incredible artists who has helped make this year so special, Casey Mitchell.

During her year at Starworks, @caseymitchhell has worn many hats, assisting customers in our Ceramic Supply Shop, teaching workshops, serving as honorary dog godmom to Molly & Simone, and spending countless hours developing her own work in the studio.

Before Casey’s internship comes to an end, we invite you to experience her work in Dot Dot Dot, an exhibition featuring Casey alongside fellow ceramic interns Kai Fukunaga and Aislinn Baker. On view June 22 through August 8, the exhibition celebrates the creativity, growth, and artistic exploration each intern has brought to their time at Starworks.

What an honor it was to be a part of Firefest 2026 at @starworksnc !! Two days packed full of workshops, artist talks, demos, and firing the bottle kiln that contained Bruce Dehnert’s Buffalo Sculpture, with a fiery reveal to cap off the event. I’m two months late to posting these photos, but better late than never! Much love to the Starworks team🔥🪵⭐️🦬☁️ by @caseymitchhell

Some small bowls off the hump for sauces, seasonings, rings, important screws, what-have-ya. I was trying to crank out some work for a wood firing this weekend, and I lost a significant amount of work to speed drying and the wind. So I quickly pivoted to these bowls! Fingers crossed for juicy results🤞 by @caseymitchhell

Moments from my first two months as a ceramic intern at @starworksnc ⭐️ These first two months have consisted of a lot of change and growth in my personal life, but more importantly it has consisted of meaningful conversations with talented individuals, creative exploration, time spent outdoors, learning, and lots of puppy love. All of my work from the first two months went into the wood kiln, for my first ever wood fire experience! Stay tuned for those photos once we unload. Special shout out to @rtoceramics for sharing his knowledge, kiln space, and puppies with me. 🦴 by @caseymitchhell

Some photos from my week at Arrowmont, or should I say Bearrowmont! I learned about firing work in a low fire sofa kiln with the guidance of @jrothshank and @sadiemisiukceramics ! Cheers to meeting new friends and trying new things🚠⛰️🐻🫖 by @caseymitchhell
