✨🖤Poetry Weekly🖤✨ This week, “Picking Violets Before the Apocalypse”, a poem I wrote in 2021. I am eternally grateful to @blackfoxlit for publishing it in February 2022 (issue #22) and for nominating it for the 2022 Pushcart Prize (!!) It was a journey sharing my poetry, one I still find hard today (the mortifying ordeal of being seen/known, know what I mean?) This poem is about the world and what we have done with it. And a recommendation, the poem “Mercy” by @joysullivanpoet . I couldn’t get it out of my head and was describing it to friends during a beautiful camping weekend, as we tried saving a dying dragonfly from a lake. “I think it surprised us what we define as mercy.” PS: It has been over a month since I started this weekly poetry series! Wild! Thanks to every friend and stranger who has been reading, watching, and writing to me about your reactions and feelings. It means the world to me 🖤 #poetry by @catheryne.g
@gatherpoets in Toronto Oct 17 2026♥️ a beautiful book launch for our anthology. So grateful for in-person poetry, the warm embrace of community, and beloved friends who feed my soul ( @shivamaz_ 🫶). Huge fan of human-generated magic over here✨ (Also, shout out to all the sunset seekers who inspired this poem 🌅) by @catheryne.g
A poem to welcome October, when the natural world is brimming with aliveness, nostalgia hangs low like a thick fog, and the looming darkness crackles with magic. I wrote this poem and my wonderful magical friend @claireleahmac turned it into a beautiful, tender and haunting SONG (!!!) which I will never emotionally recover from 🥹 and should be shared before the month wraps up. ✨ by @catheryne.g
Summer in shadows. Sometimes heat makes us shiver. by @catheryne.g
I consulted the oracle and these are the vibes going into the summer. Don’t forget to devour the sunlight and be as soft hearted as you want. by @catheryne.g
I like to think my poem feels warm surrounded by all the @gatherpoets in this beautiful collection 🖤 I love community!! Also shout out to the total solar eclipse of April 2024 that inspired this poem. 🌝 #poetry by @catheryne.g
This is how I want my poetry to feel - like a pomegranate cracked open, a synchronized whale plunge, a rabbit hopping through a cemetery, the crackle of a campfire, candle magic at dusk. Tender, vivid, visceral. An embrace, a gentle haunting. Following a prompt from the wonderful @annalisewrites ❤️ (go follow her!!) Belated for National Poetry Month, which just ended but not in my heart. #mypoetryfeelslike #poetry by @catheryne.g
Some moments of the last 3 months 🌙✨ by @catheryne.g
The tenderness in me recognizes the tenderness in you. by @catheryne.g
Excerpt from my poem, “Mourning Doves”, written during a @gatherpoets generative session🕯️ The poem is still a work-in-progress and not ready to share but I felt it worked well with some cozy candle magic. #poetry by @catheryne.g
Yearning is free!!! (You can just do it). Soft, sad, sweet, sultry summer. by @catheryne.g
