POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
🚨THIS WEEK WE ARE BRINGING ALL THE HEAT! 🔥📚

Red flags? Green lights? Absolutely unhinged anti-heroes? We’re going DARK, and we’re not apologizing for it. 😈

This week on the Rebel Reads Podcast, we’re joined by dark romance author Samantha Barrett @author.samantha.barrett, the queen of out-of-the-box stories, deliciously twisted minds, and novels that keep readers reeling long after the final page. Samantha embraces everything dirty, dark, and delicious, with a side of twisted mind f**k.
But this conversation goes deeper than dark romance and fictional red flags.

Samantha gets REAL about her author journey, what it means to have her books legitimately banned, and the comments and criticism that come with writing stories that push boundaries. We talk about rising above the noise, refusing to let other people’s opinions silence your creativity, and continuing to write the stories YOU want to tell, and readers are hungry to devour.

We also dive into the incredible, supportive experience with the Wild & Windy Girls @wildandwindybookevent, the importance of finding your people in the book community, and how dark romance has given Samantha something bigger than a genre. It’s given her a place in the world.

Because here’s the thing, Rebels: not every story is for everyone. But that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist.

At Rebel Reads, we’re here to challenge censorship, celebrate the freedom to read, and give authors a platform to share their voices, especially when those voices make people uncomfortable.

So grab your favorite morally gray man, embrace those red flags, and get ready for a conversation that’s unapologetically dark, honest, and deliciously rebellious. 🔥

The books may be banned. The voices won’t be silenced.

🎧 Tune in, turn it up, and join the rebellion. #podcast #darkromancebooks #darkromancereads #booklover #author taken in New York, New York by @rebel_reads_podcast

✨ Welcome Lucy to the Riot! ✨📚

Our featured Bookstagrammer this week is Lucy, known on Instagram as @_readwithlucy_ ! 💕📖

When asked to pick her favorite novel, Lucy chose Binding 13 by Chloe Walsh! ❤️
@authorchloewalsh
When we asked why this book earned a spot at the top of her favorites list, she shared:

“Okay, so I have a lot of favourite books, but if I had to pick ONE, it would be Binding 13.

Binding 13 got me into the world of Boys of Tommen and really changed my whole perspective on reading. It was dark, emotional, thought-provoking, and just fantastically written. It has a romance plot, with humour alongside it, but also carries very important messages. I love the whole series and will forever be grateful that I decided to read Binding 13!” 🥹❤️📚

A romance that changes your perspective on reading and stays with you long after the final page? That’s the kind of book that makes a reader for life! 😭💕

💬 RIOT QUESTION: What book or series completely changed your reading life? The one that made you fall even harder for books? Tell us below! 👇📚✨

I seriously cannot wait for everyone to hear this episode, and trust me when I say this book is a MUST-READ! 🔥📖

A huge thank you to @valentine_pr_ for coordinating and connecting Emma and me! 🤍

✨ Welcome Lauren to the Riot! ✨📚

Our featured Bookstagrammer this week is Lauren, known on IG as @thebookishstormchaser, is sharing one of her five-star reads! 💕📖

Lauren’s favorite novel is When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker! 🌙🐉
@sarah.a.parker.author
When we asked why this book earned five stars, she shared:

“When the Moon Hatched is such an original take on dragons. I’m captivated by each dragon species and the lore associated with them. What I love most is how every dragon exudes intelligence and depth without telepathic communication with their bonded. They are wholly their own characters, and their voices are powerful without dialogue.

I’ve never felt more emotionally invested in dragons than I am with Slatra, Liri, and Rygun. Sarah A. Parker’s vivid prose and lush worldbuilding are so entrancing, and she’s written top-tier yearning between Raeve and Kaan. The emotional damage in her pages continues to stay with me even after multiple rereads.” 🥹🐉❤️‍🔥

Dragons, breathtaking worldbuilding, unforgettable characters, and yearning that leaves you emotionally wrecked? Sounds like a true romantasy obsession! 🌙🔥

💬 RIOT QUESTION: Which fictional dragon has stolen your heart, and what book left you emotionally damaged long after you finished it? We need to know! 👀🐉👇

📚🔥 BANNED BOOKS WEEK IS HERE.

And you already know the Rebel Reads crew has something to say about it. 😈

Books are meant to make us think. Question. Feel. Challenge. Explore. They give voices to stories that deserve to be heard and create space for perspectives that might otherwise be silenced.

So when someone says, “You shouldn’t read that…”

👀 We’re probably adding it to the TBR.

This week, we’re celebrating the books that have been challenged, censored, questioned, and targeted simply because they dared to tell a story someone didn’t want told.

🔥 Read boldly.
🔥 Read outside your comfort zone.
🔥 Read the stories that make you uncomfortable.
🔥 Read the books they tried to silence.

Because censorship doesn’t get the final word.

The readers do. 📖✊

Stay tuned as Rebel Reads kicks off Banned Books Week with special episodes, author conversations, bookish chaos, and plenty of reasons to JOIN THE REBELLION. 🖤 #bannedbooksweek #keepreading #keepsupporting #booklover #readersofinstagram taken in New York, New York by @rebel_reads_podcast

🎙️ NEXT UP IN THE REBEL READS ARCHIVES… 👀📚

A little throwback to our conversation with KL Speer and her beautiful take on what it means for readers to feel seen through a story.

We talked about the impact a novel can have when someone recognizes themselves, their experiences, or a piece of their own story within its pages. 🖤📖

Because sometimes a book is more than just a book. Sometimes it reminds someone that they’re not alone, their story matters, and they are seen.

Here’s a little sneak peek into that conversation. 🎧✨

✨ Author Pick Of The Week! Welcome Jayne to the Riot! ✨📚

Our featured Author and Bookstagrammer this week is Jayne, known on Instagram as @janyretromp ! 💕📖

This week, I wanted to mix things up and highlight Jayne’s own novel, Burning the Raven Tree! ❤️📚

A gothic historical suspense, Burning the Raven Tree centers around a sentient ancient oak that is the keeper of memory — including what happened a decade earlier when a fire killed Colwyn Cueny’s brother-in-law and nephews.

If only the tree could talk to humans.

Instead, the town fills the silence with its own story: that Colwyn is a murderer and the forest witch. 🌲🔥

But when disgraced Chicago attorney Marcus Lenarsic arrives in town, he begins pulling at the threads of the old tragedy and discovers just how dangerous it can be to challenge the story everyone has chosen to believe. 👀

Gothic atmosphere. Secrets. A mysterious forest. An ancient tree holding memories. And a decades-old tragedy that may not be what everyone thinks. 🖤🌲📚

💬 RIOT QUESTION: Would you pick up a book about an ancient tree that holds the secrets of an entire town? 🌲👀 Tell us in the comments!

✨ Welcome Jenn to the Riot! ✨📚

Our featured Bookstagrammer this week is Jenn, known on Instagram as @literaryxdragon ! 🐉💕📖

When asked to choose a favorite novel, Jenn picked The Midnight Library by Matt Haig @mattzhaig !

When we asked why this book was so impactful, she shared:

“It’s so hard to choose just one favorite, but I can definitely say the most impactful for me would have to be The Midnight Library.

While it’s a bit heavier emotionally and touches on some darker topics (please check the TWs), The Midnight Library is a reminder of the impact of mental health and how easy it can be to lose sight of things when the decisions and paths we could have taken in the past weigh on our present. This was such a well-done story and made me feel all the feels. 🥹”

And I have to agree with Jenn on this one! I personally love The Midnight Library and would highly recommend it. ❤️📚

Some books entertain us. Others make us feel, reflect, and see life a little differently.

💬 RIOT QUESTION: What book completely caught you off guard emotionally? The one you finished and thought, “Okay… I need to sit with that.” 👀📖

Drop the title below and tell us what it made you feel! ⬇️❤️

✨ Welcome Ami to the Riot! ✨📚

Our featured Bookstagrammer this week is Ami, known on Instagram as @books.and.blooms.ny ! 💕📖

When asked to share her favorite read, Ami picked The Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. ❤️

When we asked Ami why this book was her favorite, she shared:

“It was the first book that made me cry. I don’t remember what grade I was in when I read it, but what I do remember is the realization that books could make us feel things, even real, complex feelings we’ve never felt before, like grief.

It made me hungry to read about other people’s experiences, and not just their adventures and escapades, but their internal lives as well.” 🥹📚

Some books do more than tell a story. They open our hearts, introduce us to emotions we may not have experienced before, and remind us of the power of seeing the world through someone else’s eyes. The Bridge to Terabithia was that book for Ami. ❤️

Now we want to hear from YOU! What was the first book that made you cry? What story changed the way you see the world or made you feel something you’ll never forget? Share it in the comments! #bookstagram #bookrecs #booklover #bookworm #bookcommunity taken in BOOKSTA by @rebel_reads_podcast

✨ Welcome Andrea to the Riot! ✨📚

Our featured Bookstagrammer this week is Andrea, known on Instagram as @whatisandyreading ! 💕📖

When asked to share her favorite read, Andrea picked Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan. @kennedyryan1 ❤️

When we asked Andrea why this book was her favorite, she shared:

“My favorite novel is Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan. I love it because it’s a second-chance romance, but also because, personally, I’ve suffered from depression, and that book was the first time I didn’t feel alone in the journey.” ❤️📚

There are books we love for the romance, books we love for the characters, and then there are books that make us feel seen. Before I Let Go clearly became that kind of book for Andrea. 🥹❤️

We love hearing about the books that stay with readers long after the final page.

Now we want to hear from YOU! What book made you feel less alone? Or what book has left a lasting impact on you? Tell us in the comments! 👇📚✨
