If you’ve ever been curious about tarot, or are looking for a refresher, this workshop is for you! More information and details are on my website 😊 by @centeredbodywellnessnj

The truth behind why I chose licensed therapy, Reiki, and yin yoga is simple: I believe that a post-modern, de-colonized, whole-person approach to healing deserves to be highlighted.

While traditional talk therapy can be incredibly helpful, healing doesn’t always happen through words alone. Sometimes it happens through the body, through slowing down, through reconnecting with parts of ourselves that have been ignored, protected, or disconnected. That’s where these practices come together.

If you’re interested in trying out something new, I invite you to reach out and schedule a session ✨🌿 by @centeredbodywellnessnj

Fall is the perfect time to slow down and listen to your body as we prepare for the winter season 🍃 Not sure what to do? Check out this somatic menu for some options!

This past weekend I ran my first half marathon and learned a lot of lessons...

Many of the things I learned are things that are applicable to running and beyond. I am so grateful that I am healthy enough to have had the chance to try something new and difficult!! And remember, you don't have to run far to be a runner 🤍 by @centeredbodywellnessnj

Sometimes the language of healing can start to sound a lot like another list of things we’re supposed to do better.

Work on yourself. Let go. Set better boundaries. Regulate. Trust your body. Get out of your comfort zone.

None of these ideas are inherently bad. But I think they’re worth questioning when they become rigid expectations or another way to measure whether we’re “healing” correctly.

You can be growing without constantly looking for what needs to be fixed. You can be regulated without being calm. You can be healing without forgiving, letting go, or feeling completely at home in your body.

Healing gets messy. Sometimes the most helpful thing is making a little more room for where you actually are.

We’ve gotten pretty used to thinking of “wellness” as a strong, active, flexible, energetic body that’s always working toward becoming a little better.

But that definition leaves a lot of bodies out.

Ableism has deep roots in colonialism, capitalism, racism, and eugenic thinking, which helped create ideas about which bodies were considered productive, independent, “normal,” and valuable.

So maybe part of decolonizing wellness is questioning the idea that wellness has to look like physical strength, constant movement, or improvement.

Movement can absolutely be part of wellness. So can rest, adaptation, support, and learning to work with the body you actually have.

There’s no one way to be well.

PHASE TWO: RETURNING TO ROOTS 🌱🧘🏽‍♀️

Announcing Phase Two on today’s New Moon in Virgo feels especially fitting! A moment associated with returning to our rituals, getting intentional about the practices that support us, and beginning again with greater awareness- exactly what Returning to Roots is about.

Before wellness became an industry, it was tradition. Ritual. Community. Knowledge passed down through generations.

On October 10th, we’re gathering @empowerstudiomarlton to explore decolonizing wellness & returning to the roots of yoga, looking beyond how these practices are packaged today to understand where they came from, what they mean, and how we can engage with them more mindfully.

After grabbing some coffee or matcha from the @helwaawii coffee cart, trauma therapist, yoga teacher & Reiki practitioner Lia Stiles of @centeredbodywellnessnj will lead a guided conversation with educational worksheets before bringing what we’ve learned onto the mat for an intentional 35–45 minute yoga flow.

What To Expect:
-Coffee/Matcha by Helwa Awi
-Guided worksheets & resources
-Intentional gifting from aligned brands (more details coming soon 😏)
-Open, guided conversation & yoga flow

More Details:
-OCTOBER 10 · 12:30–2 PM
-@ Empower Studio (plenty of parking!)

Tickets are available through the link in bio, or you can register directly through the @play.date.app!

A new moon asks us to begin again.
For Phase Two, we’re beginning by going back to the roots.

NOURISH YOUR NATURE. RETURN TO RHYTHM. GET MOONFED.

Reiki is something I love practicing, and I also love knowing what the research has to say about it.

There’s growing research exploring Reiki’s effects on anxiety, pain, relaxation, and overall well-being. The findings so far are encouraging, while there’s still plenty we don’t know.

And maybe we don’t need to know all of it. ✨

We can stay curious about what science is finding while leaving a little room for mystery, too.

Sources are on the final slide. 🌿
