It was a pleasure (and life-long dream) to be interviewed by Dave Clark on KTVU Fox 2 about what I hope to bring to Chabot College and the community we serve.

I want people to know that community college is an option for success! Students can save, stay local, are guaranteed transfers to dozens of four-year colleges and universities (like UCs and CSUs), and is a place that can really prepare people for careers.

Thank you, Mr. Clark and KTVU for this opportunity:

A special message from Dr. Cooks and our Chabot Gladiators! Congratulations to the @valkyries for their incredible championship victory! 🏆

With our Women’s basketball season just beginning, the Valkyries win is truly inspirational. Don’t forget to come out to support our @chabotwbb upcoming games! Go Gladiators 🎉🏀

Don’t forget to vote, Gladiators! You can return your ballot here on campus in our very own ballot box at the entrance to campus near the building 200 flagpole (just like President Cooks) OR you can vote in our cafeteria (Bldg. 2300).

Voting in our cafeteria will be open tomorrow, Monday, November 2, from 8am to 6pm and Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2026 from 7am - 8pm.

Go Gladiators!

Remembering Dolores Huerta

Chabot College joins communities across California and the nation in remembering Dolores Huerta, a pioneering labor leader and civil rights advocate whose lifelong commitment to equity, dignity, and social justice inspired generations.

We remember Dolores Huerta’s 2013 visit to Chabot College, a moment in our institution’s history that reflects the enduring connection between education, advocacy, and community empowerment. Her lifelong commitment to equity and social justice continues to inspire generations.

Her legacy lives on in the generations she inspired and in the ongoing work toward a more just and equitable society.

¡Sí, se puede! (Yes, we can.)

Gladiator Day was a blast. College resources, student clubs and organizations tabled outside on a beautiful day. Our students enjoyed learning about the variety of events and activities coming up this semester. I invite anyone looking to take college classes to register with us. We have late start classes and 8-week courses starting next month. At Chabot College, there is enough light for everyone to shine #gogladiators by @chabot_president

This weekend, I was at dinner with my family. This young woman and her baby approached our table. She told my wife that she recently returned to college and I found her in a moment of being overwhelmed. I approached her, identified the issue, and walked her to the area for the resources needed. She just wanted to say thank you. I was truly appreciative of her taking the time to say hello and to share that she was close to completing her degree to transfer to an 4-year college. This is a small example of our outstanding, hard working students. I am truly proud and fortunate to be the President of Chabot College. by @chabot_president

“A time was had” at the Black to School event at Chabot College today. Lots of laughs, food, and fun. Spread the word that at Chabot College there is enough light for everyone to shine. #gogladiators by @chabot_president

And just like that, week 1 of fall semester is done! Congratulations, Gladiators! Let’s continue to bring this great energy throughout the entire semester! 🎉

Stay tuned for updates on fun upcoming events and have a great weekend! ✨🙌

Are you as hyped as we are for fall semester? It’s been great to see so much energy all over campus, inside classes, at the library, hanging out on the grass, and more!

Welcome back / fall semester / back to school / Hayward California / California Community College by @chabot_president

The Chabot College 2026-2027 school year is off to a great start. I spent the day greeting students to campus, passing out coffee/snacks, walking students to financial aid and A&R, and welcoming students back on campus. Also, I walked around to our student services area and thanked them for doing an amazing job working with our students. I am so excited about the new year and proud to be the President of Chabot College. by @chabot_president
