This Independence Day feels very different. A little surreal, honestly.

I still remember one of my teachers telling me, “Pakistan needs teachers like you.”
I don’t think I fully understood the weight of those words back then.

And celebrating Independence Day with my own students this year feels strangely full-circle.

Standing there and watching them celebrate, I couldn’t help but think about those words again.

Maybe this is what he meant.

Maybe serving your country doesn’t always look like something grand. Sometimes, it looks like showing up in a classroom every morning and doing your best for the children sitting in front of you.

This 14th August feels a little more personal. by @chalkandthoughts

In Japan, they focus on this powerful philosophy. I believe our whole existence relies on it.
I recently attended a webinar that really resonated with my own core beliefs about education.

How do they actually make it happen? By shifting the entire classroom culture from giving answers to sparking inquiry. Ikiru Chikara is the goal; inquiry is the path.

It evolves beautifully. It starts in kindergarten, where children turn cardboard boxes into complex planetariums just because they are curious about rockets. That same spirit of inquiry, when nurtured, eventually leads high schoolers to take on massive challenges ko like their iconic project to send canned mackerel to the International Space Station! (Fun fact: there’s a major drama series about it airing right now).

It’s a great reminder that when we stop just feeding students “answers” and instead give them the space to ask “why,” we’re doing more than teaching content. We’re giving them the tools to navigate life.

It’s definitely a challenge to balance a rigid curriculum with this kind of student agency. How do you make room for inquiry in your classroom?

Child protection is not a policy. It is a promise we make to every learner.

Future in Focus 2.0. What an experience!
A meaningful and eye-opening session where education professionals came together to strengthen safeguarding practices and reflect how schools can become safer spaces for children. Sincere thanks to @hunzaishahnaz for this insightful session.
