‘Tangled at the Core’ credits 💫 these brilliant friends made this record happen. thank you a million times over for helping me create something that I love! ❤️❤️❤️ (I genuinely would still be on the first track without the help and encouragement of my co-producer and co-writer and co-husband and general creator of high morale @dominic_angelella)

‘Wilted’ is track 2 from ‘Tangled at the Core’ 🕯️ I wanted this track to have a sense of desperation. The feeling of begging for a sign from someone after they’ve passed. Feeling almost angry that you’ve been left behind. I wanted the slight tempo change of the chorus to feel like it was pulling you under. Dom co-produced this with me, Rickie Mazzotta absolutely crushed the drumming on this and Andy Black added some incredible fretless bass (I love fretless bass so muchhh!) this is one of my personal favourites on the record 🖤 #newmusic #originalmusic #irishcreator #irishmusic by @chanelemcguinness

‘You’re a Liar’ is track 1 from my new record ‘Tangled at the Core’. It’s a song about loss and grief. I wrote it after losing my dog, Niko, after almost 14 years of having him by my side. It was the first song we recorded for this record & came together so quickly & seamlessly. I feel like it really set the tone for the rest of the record. Shoutout to @dominic_angelella’s perfect guitar solo at the end of this track! (Also, If you look closely you’ll see that Niko’s paw print features on the artwork of the album) 🐾🕯️🖤 by @chanelemcguinness

History - another track I released last week. Recorded this in one take with one mic for week one of homework in the @philipweinrobe @school_of_song class & kept that version for the record! 💫 by @chanelemcguinness

🧛🏻💫🤫
‘Vampires’ was another song that we recorded in one take - I sang & played guitar and Dom played Rhodes & then we layered more vocals & those big fuzz guitars on top 🎸 by @chanelemcguinness

thank you sooo much for all of the kind messages over the last few days. Do you have a favourite song on “Let You In”? 💫 #newmusic #originalmusic #irishmusic #foryou by @chanelemcguinness

thank you so much for the love on ‘Let You In’. Here are a few clips from when we started recording the base tracks for the record like 2 weeks ago in our makeshift studio / living room 🤍💫 recording vocals without headphones was one of the biggest challenges for me but now I loveee it by @chanelemcguinness

We finished a record yesterday and I’m releasing it today (only on Bandcamp for now - link in bio!). In July, I took part in @philipweinrobe ‘s ‘home recording for the singer songwriter’ class through @school_of_song . To end the final class we were all given an assignment to record and release an album on our next birthday. Well, today is my birthday & here is my record. Accidentally, it’s my first record. Most of this was recorded over the last few weeks, beginning with a one-take base track recorded on one mic and then a few overdubs layered on top. No headphones while recording the base tracks. Minimal edits. Embracing the spill. Keeping the dog snores and pitter patters in there. I learned so much from that class that I’ll carry with me forever and I truly feel like it helped me let go of a lot of my fears around recording and releasing music. Also, I could not have done this without Dom. @dominic_angelella helped me with overdubs, mixing and mastering and generally encouraged me to stick with the project even when I was horizontal with illness last week lolllll <3 hope you guys like the songs.

(p.s. I have mentioned a record to some of you that I’m releasing this year, but this is not it. this is a different record before my originally planned debut record I know i’m confused too)

Artwork is a beautiful public domain photograph from the 1800s.

So grateful to have been a recipient of the @donegalcountycouncil Artist Bursary which helped make it possible for me to take this class. by @chanelemcguinness
