My idol, my best friend, my protector The big brother I never had 12.09.1982 - 09.09.2026 It was summer of 1992, when I was 7 years old. I couldn't speak a word of English and had zero friends. I was being bullied in the first school and transitioning to a new country was tough. And then I met you, Prakash, at the pool in Al Ghurair Center. A social butterfly who didn't care that I couldn't speak English. You were like a friendly mayor, who knew everybody in the building; the cool kids, the club managers, security guards, kiosk cashier. Being around you helped me assimilate into the building and the city. You knocked on my door every single day that summer. My mother said you used to come early and wake me up to take me out to play. That was the kind of person you were. Kind, inclusive to everyone and I am sure u subconsciously felt that I needed your help and you offered kindly in your own way. Or you just liked me cuz you could talk all day and I would just listen πŸ˜‚ Outside of my family, you had the most profound influence on my life. My first taste of hip hop was you. First fight you were there. The reason I went to Penn State was because u were there. That's where I met the love of my life and my wife. First chicken tikka, lamb chops, shawarmas, fresh juice bars lol. You helped me navigate my identity, confidence and even love for food. Who I am is because of you. Thank you. I know I wasn't the only person you have helped in your life. And that's who you have been since you were born. Helping people. You were always there when your friends and family needed you. As we grow old, it's hard to find time to spend with friends but I'm very happy that we got to build 1004 together in AGC. That shop could not have opened without you. I am grateful to have known you, albeit too short. I am sorry for not being able to take care of you, as much as you have helped me. I am extremely sad that you are gone, but I know that you are in a better place, rid of the stress and responsibilities that weighed down on you for a very long time. Be free now and can't wait to hear the jokes you have for god haha. I love you. Rest in power. ❀️ by @chang.sup.shin
