Hey all! I’m excited to share a preview of my mini feature in Character Design Quarterly issue 37! In this issue, I dive deep into my creative process when designing a character duo and explore how their shapes, colors, and expressions can help convey their personalities and stories. For this project, I created a warlock alligator snapping turtle and his trusted newt apprentice. I walk through my process from the very beginning, starting with creature studies and exploration, then moving into shape dynamics, accessory details, and color selection. Once again, I’m incredibly honored to be featured alongside so many inspiring creators. I love seeing the variety of artists and approaches throughout this issue, and getting to read through their insights and creative processes. There is such a vast amount of rich insight packed within this issue, it’s certainly worth the read!
