Thank you 2025, you changed me 🤍 by @charis_kousounia

Today is such a special day for me, for so many reasons 🫶🏼🫶🏼
Firstly, it’s the Synaxis of the Archangels, a really important day for my family and me. It’s also 113 years since the liberation of Mytilini, the capital of my island, after centuries under Ottoman occupation 🇬🇷💙
And finally, today marked the last race of my marathon distance challenge to raise money for @alzheimerssoc 💙💙This morning I ran the Hull Park Run, and after 45km of racing (plus so many more miles in training!), I’ve officially completed the challenge I set myself back in January!!
As I write this, I can remember every single race ;the tears, the aches, the moments of doubt but most of all, I remember the love and support from my friends and family who cheered me on every step of the way.
Huge shoutout to @jak_ubi who ran my very first 10k with me back in February and came to support me again today despite the rain and to @sjm_93x , who joined me for two of my four 10k races and today’s Park Run. you’re both amazing! 🫶🏼🫶🏼
I also couldn’t have done this without @chasinghappyrunclub and @claire_online_coach_and_pt One Mile at a time Run Club. thank you for the community, encouragement, and company(the banter as well) through all those training miles
Lastly, a special thank you to my grandad, Malliakas Kousounias. Even though he’s no longer with us, he’s my constant inspiration and the reason behind so much of what I do. Not a single day goes by that I don’t think of him 🪽🪽
If there’s one message I want to share, it’s this: believe in yourself. You can do hard things, this is coming from the girl who couldn’t run more than 1k back in June 2023
Thank you all for your love, support, and donations — nothing has gone unnoticed 🙏
Yours truly,

Home is where the hills are 🏔️🐐🐓🌱🍃🌞 by @charis_kousounia

Grief is a complex emotion that rarely unfolds in the same way for everyone. It often strikes at different times in life, and even when we share a loss, the intensity of our feelings can vary.

Today marks six years since my paternal grandfather, Malliakas Kousounias, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. For the past six years, I have often imagined how life would be different if he were still with us, especially if he hadn’t suffered from the disease. During celebrations, birthdays, and milestones, his absence has brought me to tears.

In the last couple of years, I’ve chosen to approach my grief differently. Instead of dwelling solely on the loss, I’ve decided to celebrate his life. I took up running, and as many of you know, I completed my first 10k race last June while fundraising for @alzheimerssoc . This year, I am taking on an even bigger challenge! I will be running a x amount of kilometers, of which 45 kilometers (essentially a full marathon) will be four 10k races and a park run, all while continuing to raise funds for @alzheimerssoc 🩵🩵

I want to say a massive thank you to my friends and family for your unwavering support as I embark on this journey.

Truly the people we love are always alive if we keep them in our hearts 🤍🤍

If you would like to support me the link is in my bio.

Yours,
