SMASH on Broadway 💥 If you saw my recent stories, you know SMASH was a huge part of why 15-year-old Charlie set his sights on NYC and a career in theatre (swipe for a hidden gem from 2012) So obviously, I had to be at the first Broadway preview—and obviously, I had to pull out a sequined shirt for the occasion. After 13 years of waiting for SMASH to hit Broadway, it was everything I hoped for. The cast is incredible, the music sounds better than ever, the story is fresh, and the costumes are unreal—so many, and each one more stunning than the last. But the obvious star of the show is Robyn Hurder, a triple threat that will define this generation of Broadway. My heart is full and my inner child is beaming Shout out again to my guy @justinburr_ for getting us tickets 🥹🥲 by @charliemunday

Opening Night of The Who’s Tommy First National Tour #assistantdirector Grateful doesn’t begin to describe this experience with the original Broadway creatives, and this stellar new cast and crew. The Who’s Tommy is touring North America 2026 and 2027 🎭 🎟️ by @charliemunday
Beyond excited to announce that I’ll be serving as Assistant Director on the First National Tour of the 2024 Broadway revival of THE WHO’S TOMMY. It’s a tremendous honor to join a team led by Tony and Olivier Award-winning director Des McAnuff and Associate Director Michael Bello. Huge thanks to @mikeabello for his support and for helping open the door to this opportunity. 🎸🤘🏻 THE WHO’S TOMMY is a groundbreaking rock musical based on the iconic album by The Who. Following a young boy’s journey from trauma and isolation to becoming an unexpected cultural phenomenon, Tommy is a visually stunning, electrifying story of resilience, self-discovery, and the human need for connection. #theatre #director #nationaltour #broadway by @charliemunday
“When I grow up I want to live in New York.” Ten years ago, I left a small town in Australia with a suitcase, a dream, and no idea how it would all turn out. I was scared. I wondered if I’d find my people, if I’d make it work, if I was making the biggest mistake of my life. Turns out, it was the beginning of a life I could never have imagined. Somewhere along the way, I found my people, my husband, my work, my home, and a life I’m proud of. It hasn’t always been easy, and the distance from home never really gets easier. But getting to build a life in a place I once only dreamed about is something I’ll never take for granted. And none of it happened just by dreaming alone. Mum, Dad, Nan and Pop - so much of the life I get to live is because of the love, sacrifices and unwavering belief you’ve given me. I carry that with me everywhere, even when I’m a very long way from home. Ten years in New York. Somehow, little Charlie who dreamed about it actually made it here. What if I fail? What if I don’t find my people? What if it doesn’t work out? And what if it all turns out better than I could have dreamed? by @charliemunday
Kicking off 2026 by heading west to choreograph Fiddler on the Roof at Sierra Repertory Theatre! I’ll also be directing and choreographing Fiddler JR for the youth program while I’m there. After a couple of years working in costumes and designing, I am so looking forward to returning to my roots in theatre and telling stories again. 🎭🕺 Fiddler on the Roof - February 27 through March 29 Fiddler on the Roof JR - April 4-6 @sierrarep by @charliemunday
Wedding Details 🌙 We wanted our wedding to be a true reflection of ourselves, so we spent the 18 months leading up to the big day designing, brainstorming, and crafting every detail. It only made sense for us, after meeting in the theatre, to tie the knot in an old proscenium theatre turned ballroom. The Harro East Ballroom offered all the grandeur and theatricality we loved, while still serving as the blank slate we needed to truly make the day our own. @harroeastballroom Hours were spent creating an ivy curtain for the balcony, paper mâché and hand-painted moon signs, light-up marquees, a gold foil photo booth, and tree centrepieces made from branches and trees from Grandpa Quattrone’s land along the Erie Canal in Holley, New York. It was important to us to include the history of love and marriage in our families, with portraits of our parents’ and grandparents’ weddings, as well as displaying both of our mums’ beautiful wedding gowns from over 30 years ago. The big reveal of the night was the light-up marquee sign unveiling the word “Unforgettable” as we danced our first dance to Nat King Cole’s classic song. This sign was an idea we had early in the planning process, with no idea how we were going to accomplish it. After designing a custom font that matched our vision, Eric Burr spent days creating and fine-tuning a sign that ultimately became the centrepiece of the entire night. We are so grateful to both of our families for embracing our wild ideas and for their tireless work and dedication in bringing this night to life, and a special thank you to the Burrs for letting us completely take over every room in their house. Months of planning and building culminated in one of the most special days of our lives, bringing together friends and family from across the world to celebrate the love we share and our promise to keep loving one another. by @charliemunday

TL;DR I designing now, too! 2025 marks the beginning of something that has been brewing for as long as I can remember. Those who know me well know that alongside performing and choreographing, I’ve always had a love for costumes. When I was 14, I started designing shows for my local theatre company, high school productions, dance eisteddfods, and anything else I could get my hands on. I was also dancing, singing and performing in as many shows as I could. When it came time to choose a path for college, I followed my first love - musical theatre. At night I was working in my college costume shop, learning all I could about the NYC costume scene. After graduating, my first year in the industry was a mix of off-Broadway wardrobe gigs, stitching jobs, and performing contracts at regional theatres. As my career evolved, I leaned into performing and choreographing, meeting some of my closest friends—and now, my future husband—while working in theatres across the States. Since the pandemic, I’ve balanced working for a costume office in New York and theatre contracts - I’ve had the chance to travel, develop my skills in costuming, and still stay connected to theatre. But over the past year, something told me it was time for a shift. So I poured more energy into my costume career—and now, I’m stepping into a new chapter. I’m excited to say I have started designing and sketching costumes for clients, selecting fabrics and working with costume shops in NYC to bring my designs to life… a life a boy from Bendigo couldn’t have dreamed of. I can’t make this post without honoring my Nanna Shirl—the woman who first nurtured my love for sewing, costumes, and fashion. She taught me to sew, bought me my first sewing machine, and passed on her passion. As a professional pattern maker and seamstress for a fashion brand back home, she set the foundation for everything I’m doing now. I’d like to think she’s looking down, proud of the man I’m becoming. I look forward to embracing theatre opportunities both performing and directing/choreographing when those opportunities come. But for now, this moment feels right, and I’m ready to see where it leads. by @charliemunday
