🇪🇸 BARCELONA TO GRAN CANARIA | EPISODE 02
⛰️ MALLORCA — ADVENTURES ASHORE

Sometimes the best part of a sailing adventure happens when you step off the boat.

After arriving in Mallorca aboard Jubilee, our Vision 444 sailing catamaran, we traded the helm for a rental car and set off to explore the island.

And what an island it is! 🇪🇸

Our adventure took us through the spectacular Serra de Tramuntana mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, where winding roads, endless switchbacks, and breathtaking views made the drive an adventure of its own.

We explored the beautiful waterfront of Port de Sóller, with its historic tram, picturesque harbor, and Mediterranean charm.

Then it was on to Sa Calobra — a spectacular stretch of coastline surrounded by towering limestone cliffs and crystal-clear turquoise water. A little swimming, some exploring, and even a friendly local cat made the day that much more memorable. 🐈🌊

From the mountains to the sea, Mallorca delivered something incredible around every corner.

One of my favorite things about traveling by sailboat is having the freedom to explore places like this. The boat gets you to the destination, but the real adventure is discovering everything beyond the shoreline.

⛵️ BARCELONA TO GRAN CANARIA | EPISODE 01 🇪🇸

The Journey Begins.

Every ocean passage starts somewhere. Ours begins in Barcelona, Spain, aboard Jubilee, a Vision 444 sailing catamaran.

First destination: Mallorca. 🌊

Leaving Barcelona behind, we headed out into the Mediterranean, trading the busy marina for open water, incredible sunsets, and moonlit skies.

There’s something about being offshore — watching the coastline disappear, settling into life underway, and knowing there’s an entirely new destination waiting on the horizon.

As Mallorca came into view, the rugged coastline and towering cliffs of Cap de Formentor made for an unforgettable approach. Sailing past its iconic lighthouse was the perfect welcome to the Balearic Islands.

And this is only the beginning.

Our journey will eventually take us beyond the Mediterranean, through the Strait of Gibraltar, and into the Atlantic toward Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands.

Welcome to the Dark Side. 😎⚓️

The universe has a funny way of opening doors, and this one has brought me to Belize.

The last couple of weeks have been all about settling in, adapting to a new chapter, and embracing the unknown. After eight years of grinding as a professional captain, I’ve been given the opportunity I’ve been working toward—taking the helm of a beautiful Viking 80 Sportfish.

Full-time. No charters. Just caring for an incredible yacht and looking after the owner while exploring the Caribbean.

Feeling grateful for the trust, the journey, and the chance to keep doing what I love in a place this special.

New waters. New adventures. Same passion.

Belize… let’s go. 🌴🚤🔥

Another incredible week on the water is in the books! 🌴🎣⛵

This charter was unlike any we’ve done before. For the week, our 50-foot sailing catamaran became the “mothership” for three guests and three fishing guides exploring the legendary tarpon waters of the Marquesas.

Each morning started before sunrise with coffee, breakfast, and packed snacks before the guests headed out on skiffs for a full day of flats fishing. While they chased tarpon across the backcountry, Dolby and I kept the mothership running and prepared meals for their return.

Evenings were spent swapping fishing stories over sunset cocktails, appetizers, and dinners featuring fresh conch salad, charcuterie board and fresh dips, Asian night with a sushi spread prepared by Captain Dolby, Caribbean-style ribs, taco night, Cajun shrimp pasta with local Key West pink shrimp, and a final surf-and-turf dinner with filet and lobster.

Between meal prep and boat duties, we were also able to enjoy a little beach time, dinghy exploring, and the incredible beauty of the remote Marquesas Islands ourselves.

The weather kept us on our toes early in the trip, but by the end of the week we were rewarded with calm waters, beautiful sunsets, great fishing, and even better company.

The greatest compliment? They’re already booked to do it all again next year.

A huge thank you to our guests and guides for making this such a memorable adventure. We can’t wait to return to the Marquesas and do it all over again!

Once again another fantastic time with the friends from the @jibroom and @petespub for the 38th annual DD. Plenty of fish and good times…great to come out on top for year three… #offshorefishing #bahamas #ocean #theboys #mahi by @chef2sail

Fishing from a sailing catamaran hits different. 🎣⛵️

Quiet hulls, steady platform, and lines in the water while the sails do the work. This is bluewater fishing the way it was meant to be — no rush, no noise, just preparation and patience.

Every lure on this table has a job: mahi on the edges, tuna in the deep, wahoo on the screamers. Some days they want bright. Some days they want subtle. The ocean always makes the call — we just come ready.

Sail. Set the spread. Let the sea decide.
