Our first “Cooking with Friends!” dinner is now live for our members.

Here is the tea, on our first super rad friend, @chefopie who will be joining us in the kitchen at the end of June.

Since starting as a dishwasher and busser, Crooks knew he belonged in the kitchen. After graduating from Le Cordon Bleu Atlanta, he started working with legendary Chef Roy Yamaguchi at Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine in Atlanta,GA. He spent nearly a decade working for Yamaguchi, rising through the ranks to become a chef-partner. In 2013, Crooks joined forces with Chef Spike Gjerde as the chef at his diner concept, Shoo-Fly, and then as chef de cuisine at the critically acclaimed Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore, MD. Cooking technically precise and hyper-local comfort food, he helped Gjerde earn a James Beard Award for “Best Chef, Mid-Atlantic” in 2015. Crooks worked alongside Gjerde to open A Rake’s Progress at the highly anticipated The LINE Hotel DC in 2017. When A Rake’s Progress closed at the start of the COVID pandemic in 2020, Crooks joined Michelin-Starred Mid-Atlantic restaurant The Dabney before returning to The LINE as executive chef to reopen the food and beverage operations as well as the restaurant No Goodbyes in 2021.
Crooks received many accolades throughout his career, including Baltimore City Paper’s “Best Chef” award in 2015, StarChefs’ Rising Star Award in 2018, and nods from Bon Appétit and The Washington Post for his contribution to culinary programming at A Rake’s Progress.
Seeking a slower lifestyle closer to family, Crooks and his wife Annie Coleman moved to Savannah to join the FARM family in 2022. As Culinary Director of FARM Hospitality Group (@commonthreadsav @farmbluffton @strangebird_savannah @floraandfaunasav ) Crooks supports management in various ways, including overseeing morning prep, ordering ingredients, expediting dinner service, scheduling, hiring, and general mentorship.

Tonight we are over @telfairmuseums for a gallery opening featuring Low Country photographer @parker_stewart_ ! We thought it would be fitting to celebrate Parker’s costal photography with a classic low country boil with homemade andouille sausage with pork from @keeganfilionfarm and shrimp from @seaeaglemarket ! What a beautiful expression of this beautiful place we call home.
