POSTS STORIES REELS

With it being the first day of Black History Month I thought it would be a great time to share this book I worked on titled The Trailblazing Life of Viola Desmond - A Civil Rights Icon. I’m so pleased to have had the pleasure of illustrating Viola’s story, written by Rachel Kehoe with Viola’s sister Wanda Desmond and published by @orcabook.
Thanks so much to my AD Rachel Page!
The Trailblazing Life of Viola Desmond will be out September 12, 2023!

What a wild year 2022 has been! @jaelrichardson and I have been meaning to work together for a while now, and we finally got to do that when @scotiabank wanted to to create a children’s hockey book. Once I heard what the story was about, it really resonated with me, and I hope it has the same effect on the kids that read it.

I’m excited to finally share this amazing book I got to work on in 2021-2022. I’m so thankful that I got the opportunity to illustrate @khodidill’s story that will inspire many kids. Thank you to @7storiespress & @trianglesquarebooks reaching out to me for this amazing project.

I’ve been a little quiet on here this year since I’ve been working on a very special project. 🥹🤍

A few unused concepts from past projects.
Some of these feel worth revisiting, so I’m going to finish them as personal pieces and bring them into my portfolio.

We’re celebrating Black History Month by looking back at some favorite pages from Little Black Lives Matter, a gorgeous and moving board book by @khodidill and @chelseacharlesillustration. Little Black Lives Matter empowers all children, but Black children especially, by affirming that their lives, however little they may yet be, matter. Featuring fifteen great Black heroes of the past and the powerful words they spoke and actions they took, Little Black Lives Matter is a rhyming board book that incorporates memorable quotations and a reminder to little ones that each of these great people once lived a little Black life themselves. by @chelseacharlesillustration
