It’s been a year & change since the release of our record I Saw a Galloping Horse Cover No Ground (can’t remember the exact date but it was and is a Scorpio record). To commemorate this I have produced a small run of lyric zines of the songs therein and some film exposures of the travels that inspired the songs themselves. As with the design of the album artwork, the chapbook includes the print work of Kristina Buckley and photography of Joseph Hoang @joelar_420 These are available on a limited basis on the bandcamp and at our merch tables forthwith. Chico States is a vehicle for the poetry of the twisting and unfurling land, I feel kinda like if Rimbaud had made it it to his 30s, never dumped his bf nor become an arms dealer. Blessed Samhaintide to all. Open the door to the darker half 🕯️ by @chicostatesmusic

THIS SUNDAY @blueportlandmaine ! So stoked to be supporting Convinced Friend on tour from Providence, if you know me then you’ve definitely been hearing me shout about great their new album is! Run don’t walk to get tickets! (link in our bio) @convincedfriend (PVD), with locals @lolabelleband and @chicostatesmusic Doors at 6, music at 7 PM (early show!) Tickets $12 adv, $15 day-of “Convinced Friend is the project of Providence-based Songwriter A.S. Wilson. Their upcoming second record Nowhere Songs embraced members of Wild Pink and Nova One resulting in a collection of largehearted and sharp-edged songs that Various Small Flames has called: ‘an intimate and attentive sound in the lineage of Jason Molina and David Bazan... pushing beyond the melancholic surface so common to indie rock, looking instead to explore the deep possibilities beneath.’ The songs are marked by Wilson’s time spent growing up in oilfield towns south of New Orleans - focused on the little indignities of love and work, with the sense of impermanence that comes with a home slowly sinking underwater.” by @chicostatesmusic
