Happy 2025! 🥂
.
Last year was a busy one and I felt like I literally had no time to make soup.
.
I’m trying new things this year and the Chinese herbal store recommended that we try this soup to help with asthma. Anyone here use crocodile meat often for that purpose? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Who doesn’t love a hearty bone broth? This one is filled with collagen- I used chicken feet and pork bones with marrow. I love making a giant pot and freezing it. Save all the ingredients after as a dish you can mix with rice for dinner!

If you’re looking to beef up your chicken broth and need a pick me up other than the usual go to coffee, adding the herbs below can help increase circulation and reduce fatigue:
.
Chicken (I used breast here because it was all I had in the freezer) - 雞
Red dates -紅棗
Goji berries - 杞子
Dried longan - 龍眼肉
Codonopsis pilosula (aka poor man’s ginseng)- 黨參
Mongolian milkvetch - 北芪

Colds at home call for congee! I recently started making my congee in the Instant Pot and it’s such a game changer - no more checking for burning and comes out super flavourful every time!
.
Recipe (I doubled the recipe in this pic):
1 cup rice
7 cups of water
1 pork sirloin
1 chicken breast (can use bones for more flavour, I used breast bc that’s what I had around and it’s less fatty)
Chinese shiitake mushrooms (thanks for the reco @livwu !)
.
.
Method: Wash and soak mushrooms in hot water until soft, wash rice, cut meat into large chunks, throw everything into the Instant Pot with the water. Porridge mode for 30 min and then natural release - done! If it’s still watery after you finish then you can you can boil on sauté mode until it gets to desired consistency. Salt to taste. Enjoy!

Happy New Year! It’s been a while I know… hope everyone is healthy and well! We’ve been cooped up in the house due to the extreme cold weather up here so needed a soothing apple/pear drink for the super dry air! Enjoy and I hope everyone has a wonderful Chinese New Year!! 🧧

Hi friends! It’s been a while because, well… pandemic with 2 kids 24/7. It’s been busy busy!
.
Here’s something simple and warming:
.
Chicken 雞
Coconut 椰子
Red dates 紅棗 (pitted)
.
We had to crack the coconut with a hammer - can anyone teach me a better way to open it? 😅 Next time I may add some goji berries too.
.
Happy October!
