For this week's Mana Monday, we are featuring Mizuki Lee, the National Managed Care Contracting Manager for CCRM Management Company, a global pioneer in fertility science, research, and treatment. 👶 Prior to joining CCRM in October 2023, Mizuki served in billing and contracting roles for The Queen's Health Systems and Advanced Reproductive Medicine & Gynecology, Inc. Outside of work, Mizuki volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), advocating for the best interests of children facing abuse or neglect. ⚖️ She also helps to build the bench for the CASA Program by serving as a vice president of the Friends of CASA Hawaii, which recruits, trains, and supervises CASA volunteers. Mizuki currently serves as Co-Chair of the YP Mentor Hawaii Committee. She, herself, was a beneficiary of the YP Program, remarking, "I was fortunate to be mentored by David Okabe, currently serving as Chair of the Chamber’s Board of Directors. It’s my pleasure and privilege to continue my mentorship journey as Co-Chair.” #ManaMonday by @chocolatemiz
This is in memory of my dear friend from college @robstengel who should be here with us today after turning 35 and passing his NY State boards. On Friday 10/27, I was sworn in by Judge Natasha Shaw of the Hawai’i State Judiciary to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Guardian ad Litem (GAL for those who speak legalese). I’m an Officer of Family Court. For listeners of @officialjld ‘s “Wiser Than Me”@lemonada podcast featuring @JaneFonda, I’m in the 2nd stage of my life. I’m 35 yet often feel I’m over the hill. I love mentoring high school students through my affiliations with @cochawaiiyp. It is exhilarating to me to hear their hopes and dreams for themselves- @callmejeffy also serves as mentor and kindly attended my Swearing In Ceremony. I wrestled with ideas on how to convey “not giving up” to them. I asked @brooklynlawreview Executive Notes editor @robstengel if he would be so kind as to share his experience on ‘not giving up’ with my student mentees. “Thank you for all your kind words Mizuki! ❤️❤️ Really appreciated” were the last words I ever heard from Rob. I interpreted this to mean that, I “had this one in the bag”. If you also knew Rob, you know it’s not a typical thing for Rob to say- with emojis, at that! I dug deeper in my pockets to meet the needs of my student mentees. I got in touch with the CASA program manager who conveyed to me a different meaning of “never giving up”. The rest is history, and please follow us at @hawaiicasa to learn more about how the program works to be advocates to our children in foster care. Rob was committed to represent the voiceless in environmental justice and later earned his Juris Doctorate posthumously. I shared with Rob’s wife @offbeatorbit Ashley that, until the rest of my days, I’m committed to serve on the board of a nonprofit that needs an executor, because I’ll definitely bring it. Rob would. I’m here upholding that promise to myself and will talk about Rob to whoever will bother to listen. I’m here as a CASA and Board Member of Friends of CASA Hawaii. by @chocolatemiz
We’re honored to share that Friends of CASA Hawaiʻi was selected as the beneficiary of a generous $10,000 charitable donation from E Noa Corporation and the world‑famous Waikiki Trolley, made possible through their annual Trial of Fears Halloween thriller experience! On behalf of our board, volunteers, and the keiki we serve, we wish to extend our deepest gratitude to Maki Kuroda, President & CEO of E Noa Corporation, for choosing to uplift Friends of CASA Hawai’i’s mission. Maki shared that “we make it a priority to give back to the community. To me, this is part of being a responsible member of our island ‘ohana, lifting others when we have the ability to do so.” That spirit of kōkua is exactly what strengthens Hawaiʻi’s communities. This contribution directly supports our work advocating for children in foster care across the islands — ensuring they have a voice, stability, and the support they deserve. Celebrate the holiday season while supporting a company that gives back! Check out the Waikiki Trolley’s Holiday Lights Tour! Running through December 30th, 2025, it’s a magical open‑air ride through Honolulu’s festive displays, complete with sing‑alongs, photo ops, and a stop at Honolulu Hale to experience the iconic City Lights. Mahalo nui loa to Maki and the entire E Noa team for standing with us and investing in Hawaiʻi’s keiki. Your commitment to giving back truly embodies what it means to be part of our island ‘ohana. #FriendsOfCASAHawaii #ENoaTours #WaikikiTrolley #HolidayLightsTour #TrialOfFears #CommunityImpact #Mahalo #HawaiiNonprofits #CASA #KeikiFirst by @chocolatemiz

Mentor Hawaii Cohort No. 9 of the @cochawaiiyp Chamber of Commerce Hawaii Young Professionals kicked off today! As the Co-Chair of the Committee (@chocolatemiz as my fellow Co-Chair), so proud to announce that 29 exceptional young professionals have been paired with esteemed community, business, and government leaders for this year’s cohort. We can’t wait to see all the great things this cohort will achieve. by @chocolatemiz
We’re thrilled to announce our new bright and shiny group of Sworn In CASA volunteers! After a 20 hour training commitment, mock court reporting, and completing mandatory Court Observation requirements, they are our unsung heroes who will be assigned to advocate one case at a time- they vowed to give each child a voice in family court. How about a big round of applause for this mighty group! Thank you to our CASA Program manager, CASA social workers, and affiliated organizations who contributed to our deep understanding of the State of Hawai’i Judicial System. Special thanks to Judge Shaw who presided over Friday’s Swearing-In Ceremony to certify our CASAs as guardians of the court. by @chocolatemiz
I want to share with you a story of when my gma we call 婆婆, visited us from Japan. With the help of a friendly airport interpreter, gma was asked to point out what the item of most value to her was, in the luggage she carried with her while traveling. To the federal customs agents’ surprise, she said, “MY LIFE IS THE MOST VALUABLE!!” Still shakes me to my core to this day. Scroll to my very first @meta post for more legendary gems from our 婆婆, ten years ago today. #tenyearchallenge #gogetemtiger by @chocolatemiz

What is really happening is a war on how we process information in our brains. Full text of this poem: 'what they did yesterday afternoon' -Warsan Shire they set my aunts house on fire i cried the way women on tv do folding at the middle like a five pound note. i called the boy who use to love me tried to ‘okay’ my voice i said hello he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened? i’ve been praying, and these are what my prayers look like: dear god i come from two countries one is thirsty the other is on fire both need water. later that night i held an atlas in my lap ran my fingers across the whole world and whispered where does it hurt? it answered everywhere everywhere everywhere. #loveoverfear #prayforsyria #peace #worldpeace #mtv #charlie #adele #socialenvy #amazing #brain #meditation #adeltermos #change #free #freemovie #warsanshire #30daysofthanks #gratitude #thanksgiving #grateful #感謝 by @chocolatemiz
