[Who Made Gimbap?]
Here’s a collection of my favorite illustrations from the book!
To be honest, I love every single scene though... haha! 😄
”Shall I try making gimbap myself?“
Look at those cute little hands moving as they think about it!!
It’s a charming gimbap story highlighted by the lovely chemistry between the brother and sister. 😉

Marigold]

(Who Made Gimbap?)

[Who Made Gimbap?]
This scene shows going grocery shopping together with Mom.
I thought a lot about how to portray a rich and bustling supermarket!
Looking at it again, it feels a little empty to me, so I still feel a bit of regret.
When doing illustrations, there are drawings I‘m really happy with,
but there always seem to be parts I wish I had done better. 🥺
Still, filling up the supermarket shelves was so much fun...!! 🤭
The gimbap ingredients are pretty adorable too, right? 😆😅

Grandma Lives In Korea]

[Grandma Lives in Korea]
This was one of the most challenging scenes when I was working on the picture book Grandma Lives in Korea. Why?
Because it was my very first time drawing a night view! 🤫😱🤭😅😅😅
I never imagined this piece would be used as the exhibition poster!!
I’m so deeply moved... 😭🥹🥹
While working on the illustrations for this book,
I really wanted to capture and showcase the true beauty of Korea.
I lovingly painted every single page,
hoping that readers abroad and overseas Korean readers would feel the warmth in each scene.
I also wanted to fully convey the heartfelt message that the writer wished to share. :)

[Grandma Lives In Korea:

[Grandma Lives In Korea]
[Story by: Jimin Lee/ Pictures by: Song-i Kim]

This is the illustration for the first page of the picture book! 😉
To capture the feel of a real Korean city,
I carefully observed and drew the local shops and buildings in my neighborhood.😆
While I always put my heart into drawing the main character,
the true co-star of this page is….. the pigeon! 🕊️”coo-coo-coo-coo”

[Grandma Lives In Korea]

[Today Is Seollal]
