“We use sounds to make music, just as we use words to make a language.” – Frédéric Chopin. To Chopin, every single note was a spoken word.📜 Did you know that the master deeply believed music was a language of its own? In his unfinished notes for a piano method (Projet de méthode), he explicitly framed his entire teaching philosophy around this beautiful idea, constantly using language as a metaphor for his students. Sent to us by @wallabearnyc63 , this AI-assisted portrait weaves the master’s portrait with the raw text of musical manuscripts bringing his „music as a language” concept to life in the digital age 🎨 🏛️ Title: Frédéric Chopin: Musical Portrait 📅 Conceived & Created: October 2026 #chopin #fryderykchopin #frédéricchopin #ai #digitalart by @chopinartgallery
The Face of Romanticism, Ary Scheffer’s 1847 Masterpiece. Did you know that this is one of the very few iconic portraits of Frédéric Chopin painted entirely from life? It offers a profound, raw glimpse into the composer’s final years. ✨ KEY FACTS • The Artist: Ary Scheffer (1795–1858), a celebrated French-Dutch Romantic painter. • The Date: Created in April 1847 in Paris. • Chopin’s Status: Yes, Chopin was alive! Completed in his presence just two years before his death on October 17, 1849. • Current Home: Dordrechts Museum in the Netherlands (the artist’s birthplace). 👨‍🎨 BEHIND THE CANVAS Painted at Scheffer’s Paris studio, 1847 marked the exact year of Chopin’s painful, final breakup with George Sand. Concurrently, his health was rapidly deteriorating due to tuberculosis. Scheffer masterfully refused to hide this immortalizing Chopin with a pale complexion, weary eyes, and a gaze full of stoic melancholy. 🕵️‍♂️ THE SURVIVED OVAL MASTERPIECE This exact oval portrait never went to Poland. It remained safely with Scheffer’s family in France before being gifted to the Dordrechts Museum. By staying abroad, it completely escaped the destruction of war, standing today as a flawless, direct testimony of Chopin’s true likeness. #chopin #chopinpiano #fryderykchopin #frédéricchopin #parisart by @chopinartgallery
👃 „My nose is too long...” – 19-year-old Frédéric Chopin on his own portrait! Did you know the oldest known likeness of Chopin comes with a brilliant piece of historical gossip and a tragic wartime mystery? ✨ Key Facts: • Year: September 1829 (Warsaw, Poland) • Chopin’s age: Just 19 years old! • Artist: Ambroży Mieroszewski 👨‍🎨 Behind the Scenes: In autumn 1829, Mieroszewski was commissioned to paint the Chopin family, creating five oil portraits: Frédéric, his parents (Nicolas and Justyna), and his sisters (Ludwika and Izabela). The young composer reacted with his trademark sharp humor. In a letter to his closest friend, Tytus Woyciechowski (Oct 3, 1829), he wrote: „Mieroszewski has already done portraits of my father and mother, Isabella and me, and they are very like. Only my nose is too long, but that may be the fault of perspective.” 🕵️‍♂️ A Wartime Mystery: Tragically, the original canvas is lost. The entire family collection vanished in September 1939 during the outbreak of WWII from the Warsaw apartment of Laura Ciechomska, the great granddaughter of Chopin’s sister. Whether they burned during the bombardment or were looted by German soldiers remains unknown. The painting is officially registered as a Polish wartime loss. 🎨 How do we know it? The original survived only on pre war black and white photographic plates, later published in the official 1950 catalog of wartime losses. Along with these archival photos, detailed written descriptions from the family archives survived, preserving the exact colors Mieroszewski used back in 1829. #chopin #fredericchopin #chopinartgallery #chopinpiano #fryderykchopin by @chopinartgallery
Chopin’s Death mask by Stefan Szmaj. "Chopin was a genius of universal appeal. His music conquers the most diverse audiences. When the first notes of Chopin sound through the concert hall there is a happy sigh of recognition. All over the world men and women know his music. They love it. They are moved by it. Yet it is not "Romantic music" in the Byronic sense. It does not tell stories or paint pictures. It is expressive and personal, but still a pure art. Even in this abstract atomic age, where emotion is not fashionable, Chopin endures. His music is the universal language of human communication. When I play Chopin I know I speak directly to the hearts of people!" - Arthur Rubinstein on Chopin. 🖼️ Painted in 1945. 📍Collection of the artist’s family. 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼 #chopin #chopinpiano #fryderykchopin #fredericchopin #frédéricchopin by @chopinartgallery
My Chopin. Under this title, Marco Arcieri will give an all-Chopin piano recital at Smith Square Hall in London on 10 October. But what is his Chopin? When I met Marco Arcieri in Rome, that was what I wanted to understand. What does he hear in this music? What does he hope to share through it? And what does he mean when he says, “Chopin is my second self”? We spoke about interpretation and about the intimacy that can arise even in a large concert hall. About notes that say more than words. And about the silence that remains after Chopin. In this interview for VORSPRUNG, we meet Marco Arcieri before hearing him at the piano in London. Read “Chopin and Marco Arcieri – Resonances Between Minor and Major” in VORSPRUNG via the link in my profile. My Chopin · Marco Arcieri Saturday, 10 October 2026 · 7 pm Smith Square Hall, London Tickets available through Sinfonia Smith Square. by @chopinartgallery

Magdaleny, gdzie miało miejsce nabożeństwo żałobne i zgodnie z wolą zmarłego zabrzmiało Requiem W.A. Mozarta. Gorąco polecam - a dzięki wydawcy Znak Horyzont możecie skompletować całą biografię, biorąc udział w #ROZDANIE. 🇵🇱 November 11 - National Independence Day of Poland. In 1918, after 123 years of partitions, Poland regained its independence. ❤️ 🔸Chopin never lived to see a free Poland, but the spirit of his homeland always lived on in his music. 🔸In November 1830, at the age of 20, he left Warsaw on a concert tour. A few days later, the November Uprising broke out, which he could not experience firsthand. 📮Letter to Tytus Woyciechowski, December 1830: “I am cursed to sit here peacefully while the blood of my brothers flows there… I cannot be with them, so I play for them.” 📮 Letter from 1831: “My homeland appeared in my dreams… I feel I left half of myself there.” 📍Paris, 1831 - he settled here permanently. Although far from Poland, the echoes of his homeland can always be heard in his mazurkas and polonaises. 🔸Today, on National Independence Day, listen to his Polonaise in A-flat major, Op. 53 - Heroic, which sounds like a longing for a free Poland. 🎹🇵🇱 ▫️Painting by Stefan Norblin. 🖼️ 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼 #chopin #fryderykchopin #fredericchopin #chopinpiano #chopinwaltz #chopin2025 #chopincompetition #dzienniepodleglosci #dzieńniepodległości #polska #poland #polskawsercu🤍❤️ #nadzieja by @chopinartgallery

176th Anniversary of Frederic Chopin’s Death. 🖤 ▪️Today we remember the final moments of one of the greatest geniuses of Romantic music Frederic Chopin. ▪️He had struggled with illness for many years - most likely tuberculosis, though some historians believe it may have been cystic fibrosis. As his condition worsened, he spent his final months in Paris, growing weaker but surrounded by close friends and admirers. ▪️His sister Ludwika traveled from Warsaw to be by his side in his final days. At his bedside were some of his dearest friends, students, and fellow artists. ▪️According to those present, his final words were: “I am already dead, don’t cry.” 🤍 ▪️He passed peacefully during the night between October 16 and 17. ▪️His funeral took place on October 30 at the Church of the Madeleine in Paris. During the ceremony, Mozart’s Requiem was performed a piece Chopin had long wished to hear before his death. ▪️Honoring his last will, Chopin’s heart was brought back to Warsaw, where it now rests in a pillar of the Church of the Holy Cross. His body lies at Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. 📍 Paris, October 17, 1849. 🕯️ He passed away at the age of 39. 🖼️ Painting by Eduardo Moctezuma. 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼 #chopin #chopinpiano #chopinanniversary #chopin2025 #chopinetude #fryderykchopin #frédéricchopin #fredericchopin #pianista #composer #pamiętamy #historical #historicalday #chopincompetition by @chopinartgallery
