At the Iconic Abuja Exhibition, I’m grateful for everyone who showed up. It’s one thing to take a photograph; it’s another to watch people stand in front of it and appreciate it.

A few photos from the 10th edition of Abuja Photo Festival 2026, where my photographs of historical sites connected to Nigeria’s colonial and pre-independence era were on display.

The photographs feature the Bridge of No Return (1795), the 1914 Amalgamation House and Lord Lugard’s Residence in Ikot Abasi. Each site holds a part of our history and through my photographs, I hope to bring more attention to the stories these places tell.

I’m excited to be part of the 10th edition of the Abuja International Photo Festival. This edition is special to me because it marks my 17th exhibition. My very first exhibition was at the 7th edition of the Abuja International Photo Festival in 2023.

I’m genuinely grateful to @osaze_efe for believing in me and supporting my journey. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to grow in my creative journey.

I’m grateful to @philipsomiari for his guidance in videography and to @iffects_studios for helping me refine my photography skills. Looking back, I can only thank God for placing the right people in my life and giving me opportunities to keep growing.

Houses Without a Heart: Igbo Architecture in Transition was featured at Design Week Lagos (DWL) 2026, held from 22–25 October at the National Theatre, Lagos.

As a participant representing Team South-East in the Roots and Roofs Project, I’m glad to have contributed to this project which examines the shift from indigenous compound systems to contemporary concrete homes.

I attended #BUILD2026, Africa’s Shared Compute and AI Infrastructure Conference held in Abuja, Nigeria.

The conference brought together policymakers, researchers, investors and builders to discuss the future of AI in Africa with conversations around infrastructure, digital sovereignty, technology, governance and innovation.

Discussions covered six key areas: infrastructure, economics, digital sovereignty, tech justice, governance and ethics and innovation catalysis. There were also conversations around access to computing resources, ownership and investment.

It was an opportunity to learn more about the work being done to strengthen Africa’s AI capacity and the importance of building solutions that respond to our needs as a continent.

The future of AI in Africa will depend not only on the technology we build but also on the decisions, investments and collaborations that shape its development and use.

The Build Conference 2026 was organized by the @aicollectiveng in partnership with the @thecjid @policycentreng @luminate_data @fordfoundation @pau_nigeria @ncairnigeria @dsn_ai_network and @fmocde

I’m grateful for the month of September even though it was quite intense. I’m especially glad I got the opportunity to put my @kapfilmandtelevisionacademy
KAP Film and Television Academy Certificate in Cinematography to use during my internship at the @thecjid Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development.

It was a month of learning, growth and putting what I’ve learnt into practice. Thank you to @artforhumanityfoundation Art for Humanity Foundation for the opportunity and for making this experience possible. by @christabel_uchechi

The “Beware of 419” and “This House Is Not for Sale” signs can be traced to Nigeria’s real estate crisis in the late 20th century. The term “419” comes from Section 419 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act, which addresses obtaining property or money through false pretences.

As property fraud became increasingly common. Fraudsters targeted vacant properties and absentee owners using forged documents, fake land titles and staged inspections to sell properties to unsuspecting buyers.

In response, property owners began painting bold warnings such as “Beware of 419” and “This House Is Not for Sale” on their walls, gates and fences. These signs served as a visible warning to potential buyers and helped owners publicly establish that the property was not available for sale. by @christabel_uchechi
