It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

Every day, millions of people across the country go to work, raise their families, and show up for their communities while battling cancer. Their resilience reminds us why early detection and care matter so much.

That’s why this morning, I teamed up with my fellow colleagues and cancer survivors, @cm_harpermadison and @marcforaustin, to celebrate survivors, honor the loved ones we’ve lost, and raise awareness about the importance of early screenings with City of Austin Employees. We shared a poetry reading by @simonemoniquebarnes, a saxophone performance by @christeague_, heard stories from City employees, and held a moment of silence for those no longer with us.

We’re incredibly grateful to all the survivors, supporters, and partners who showed up - including Austin Public Health, the Breast Cancer Resource Center, and Susan G Komen of Central Texas. by @christeague_
